My mom got a text from AT&T saying "CoolCellBids" will be renewing our subscription next month. It's $9.99 a month (I believe) and she never signed up for it in the first place. Apparently this is happening to a lot of AT&T customers. Does anyone else know about this?

Have her report it to
There are several ways that these subscriptions get crammed on to the line. There are shady web sites out there that automatically subscribe you to a service just by submitting your sell phone number.

We talked to an AT&T chat rep and he fixed it for her (hopefully... he was really weird) She wouldn't have put her number anywhere though. She's super cautious about that stuff.

Glad you got it fixed!
Those subscriptions can be a pain.
If you want to be sure to avoid that in the future, you can have a Purchase Block code added to the line.

It's a third-party premium messaging scam. She should check for past charges she might have missed on her bill. She should report it to AT&T customer service and explain that she never signed up for it. AT&T is usually good about crediting such charges when customers complain.

Thanks Rich. We did all that the other day and the AT&T guy was very helpful and gave us the credits.
