Restore to 5.0.1 and jailbreak with redsn0w.
Turn device off, plug USB cable in and hold the home button until it detects the phone in "restore mode" and restore the phone. You can also download the firmware for 4.3.5 (if it's the correct FW for the phone. Assuming you have an iPhone 4 from Verizon. When doing so, Shift+click on "Restore" and it will allow you to use the firmware that you downloaded to restore the phone.
