Can I use a non AT&T smartphone such as a Blackberry for just calls and texting and not get a message that I am required to have a data plan with that phone. I understand that they can track the phone from the ID number on the phone. I have no need for data. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you need to use a Blackberry if you don't need data? There are a number of texting phones available that don't require the data packages.

Just change the Message Retrival # to what is programed for your carrier.

i do believe he was talking about using a blkbrry on the postpaid network...not prepaid, totally different & yes you are req.

if you don't want the data, get a different phone...no matter how you try to get around it, we will know & it will be added 😎

have a nice day 😁
