The problem will be its implementation in mobile devices, which will be slightly different. WiMAX does not require the use of SIM cards, while LTE is set up for SIM card use; »

Also, the fact is that LTE is planned on the 700 MHz spectrum, while WiMAX is at 2.5 GHz in the US. Thus, the only real battles I see are over SIM necessity and the preferred spectrum.
