So...here's the deal...I have another job offer as a tier 2 tech rep with T-mobile. The difference in pay is about $3.00 more per hour for T-mobile, but it's about 30-40 minutes away, where as the job I've got now is only 4 miles away. if anyone works for T-mobile, do they treat their people well? would it be worth the drive to work for them? also, I'm getting pretty bored with the warranty center. it's the same call every time. Any suggestions??

I don't work for T-Mobile ($print), but I've heard nothing but excellent about how they treat their employees, from both online forums and the T-Mobile reps themselves, as I am a customer.

I work for a T-Mo affiliate, as a sales associate, and my company treats me great! Best treatment I have ever received, well maybe tied with the Senate office I interned in, but I really can't compare the two.
Granted, I am not working for T-Mo directly, it's a state side carrier that is affiliated with them, but my company has many of the same policies, and we have a turn over rate of less than 4% company wide.
From what I hear from other associates that worked for T-Mo in another state, then transfered here, and vice versa, is that it is pretty much the same, great! The managers are encouraged to treat their employees like human beings, great on paper benefits, and very competitive pay(In my area, the sales associates at my company...

I don't work for T-mobile, but heard the employees are treated great. Customer care tries to get me to come over but eh their call centers are too far and I don't want to deal with sales. I heard they had great benefits, and their employee plans are nice.

T-Mobile treats their employees very well (Company as a whole), as I am one. Of course not everyone in a management role is the same and you'll still have your few a-hole bosses, but overall the company is great to work for. I've been here about 3 years so far, and again, there are going to be a few things, like any other job that you dis-like, but I believe the Pros far outweigh the Cons. $3.00 mor per hour is a pretty nice raise too. I'm scared to know what they pay the Tech reps compared to the Retail reps though, as we really don't make all that much compared to other major Nationwide carriers. We honestly are one of the lowest paid reps in the buisiness. I think I would be a lot happier with the company outside of retail.

wow-seems like everyone agrees that they're pretty great! and if the turnover is really 4%, that's awesome! especially compared to my company's less-than-stellar turnover of about 70%...the other question I have is what is the opportunity for moving up at T-mo? the company I'm with has a great opportunity of advancement...if you actually stay with them longer than 6 months, which apparently is difficult...lol

Well, like I said, I've been with the company about 3 years and have yet to be promoted. I've been transfered plenty of times, but from my experience they like to hire from the outside for management positions. I've only seen 2 internal promotions in my 3 years. That honestly could be just my market or upper management but from what T-Mo says, they like to promote from within. I just haven't seen it. They actually have a program in the retail side of things in place for promoting from within, but it is rarely ever used in my market.

do you work for an outsourcer? if so, i'm pretty sure i know which company and my advice would be to stick it out there if you're looking for a promotion/management position.

Yep...i'm outsourced...I bet you do know which one i am...i think we're the only ones for warranty...why do you say to stick it out here? are they a good place for promotions?

I worked for TMo for a little over 4.5 years. I only left the company to move closer to my home town due to family issues. My time there was fabulous. I was a customer care rep for about 3 years and then promoted to Senior Rep (the position is like an assistant manager) for 1.5 years. As a rep I was a 2 time customer champion (top 1% in the nation) and got to go to San Diego and stay at a 4-star hotel, all expenses paid and then the 2nd year we went to Vegas baby, stayed at the Hard Rock hotel and casino. If you are a top performing rep you can get promoted, paid and recognized. My pay increased by $6/hr from the time I started to the time I left. I highly recommend them.
As far as a following comment about getting promoted, it dep...
