Another stupid question
Say a phone has Bluetooth v. 1.2. If that phone did an open search for Bluetooth devices, would it be able to find devices with Bluetooth v. 2.0?

Yes a bluetooth 2.0 device whether being a phone or headset has 1.2 in it as well. Thus a bt 1.2 phone can find a bt 2.0 headset as the headset is 1.2 as well. Like wise a bt 2.0 phone can find a 1.2 device as the the phone is 1.2 as well
