Do you mean just to sell for? or directly? If you're also wondering if you want direct or indirect...then i would choose the worst direct company over the best indirect. Tmobile treats their employees great. They have bonuses for everything....they even have bonuses for hitting bonuses. They are just a great all around employer. I dont know too much about other carriers though

I've been working for ATTws customer care department in Los Angeles for 14 months and I believe the treatment is great. I must admit that at the beginning I was negative about the job, duties, and policies and many other issues that I can't think about right now. The reason behind my negativity was not ATTws but rather the traffic I must deal with every day returning home and of course the distance and lenght of commuting. Along with that inflation began to grow just about everything including gasoline and the hourly pay was low to make a living.

Over the period of time I found that I posses a way to convey using simple and well explained yet with detail ways to people the many advantages and benefits of staying with ATTws. Months down th...

Pardon my confusion, but if you don't know how other direct carriers are to work for, how do you know that all indirect sources are a terrible choice to work for? You're entitled to an opinion, but to lump all indirect agencies into one seething cauldron of bias displays an unwillingness to judge each company (and/or...

From what I understand T-Mobile reps are among the lowest paid in the wireless industry. That being said, I've got a great relationship with my coworkers, and I work in a high-traffic location that provides with unique opportunities, even within the company. As far as benefits go, the T-Mobile benefits package is competitive with the benefits package my dad (pilot for Delta) has. Although as a rep, you've got a lot more on your shoulders than other providers, given that you do customer service and tech support, not just sales.

ok, I work for a indirect dealer called "wireless retail" (catchy name eh?). And I sell all the phone companies available in my area (sprint, alltel, cellularone, and T-mobile) and I'm telling you goto a place that people are there to buy phones not a store, in a store, in a store, sure sometimes its fun harrassing people that are here just to shop but after a while you wish that they would just come to you instead of vice versa. All cell phone companies have great benefit packages (at least the ones I've worked for) and all of them have spiffs and bonuses to get you some great $money$. My advice to you is look for a company that has great coverage in your particular area (sprint has horrible coverage where I live and and I barely sell an...

I worked at Cingular for a year and ended up being very unhappy. I have a few friends that still work there and they say that Cingular is going down hill. I don't know the facts of what they are referring to, but I do know the commission system changed for the worse last month and they plan to implement another 16% drop in commission this month (I think it's this month).
I now work for Verizon and get paid MUCH more per hour than I was getting at Cingular. The commission is much higher too. I believe there is much more room to earn money....seeing as how a guy in my store makes 6 figures every year (and he's a full time rep). I don't think this is possible at Cingular (well, unless you are the only rep in town).

Just my thoughts based on...

i used to work for cingular telesales last year and i understand what you're saying about how the system has been going downhill. i left the company at the end of january and i went thru a rough time. i got a couple other sales jobs but when you've worked in the wireless telecommunication industry it's hard to transistion over to doing any other kind of job. i wanted to go back to cingular but the the commision changes and a lot of other stuff going on in the center was still shady. i now work for verizon wireless customer service. i don't make as much as i was making at cingular but i know the job already and its pretty easy and less stressful. i want to get back into wireless sales. if verizon retail sales is tight like that i need to go a...

On the subject of Best Buy, how do they treat their employees? We're getting a Best Buy up here in Flagstaff late next year and I'm considering applying for a management level position, but I've heard some really mixed things about the job itself. Do you know how the pay and benefits are for management level people?

I work for Sprint Nextel Inc. in one of their retail stores as a Retail Communications Consultant(RCC). Their benefit package, when you factor in the medical, dental, vision and 401k option, is excellent. I worked for 6 years with AT&T Wireless as a Communcations Specialist(same as a RCC) right up to their acquistion by Cingular Wireless and have to say Sprint Nextel Inc.'s compensation plan blows the AT&T Wireless one right to the bottom of Davy Jone's locker. I have a $0.00 MRC plan for my company issued business line(Samsung A920) as well as a $14.99 Connection Card plan for my home PC(I use a Novatel Wireless U720). I tell anyone who is thinking about entering the wireless arena, be prepared to turn on a dime so to speak as everyday some...

Helmuth is a terrible example of an excellent reader in poker. Try Negreanu or Farha.

Also, I hate to say it, but 7+ years in the wireless industry and you're still at ground level? Sad...

I was gonna say the same thing...but if he's going through 500 cards a month, I'm guessing his commission is pretty good. Some reps in this area made almost as much as the store manager this year.

If he goes through 500 cards a month, then he's going on top of some building and throwing them off.

I know, it sounds iffy to me too...I've maybe handed out 3 cards outside of work and those were to people who were hounding me at the grocery store or at a restaurant when they saw I was in my uniform.

The funny thing is, there's no way that his company is going to pay for his 6000 bus cards he uses in a year. It's all BS

I never give my card out. All of my former coworkers (myself included) would get ridiculous calls at any time of the day that went like this:

"I got charged XXX on my bill, why?"

"Why is my phone not ringing, its only vibrating"

"Are you single?" - I didn't have a problem with that one though 🤣

My business cards don't have my cell number for that very reason. They do have my store number and my fax number on them, so if they want to get a hole of me during business hours that's fine!

I agree, it's my fault for being green when I started and ordering a f_c%load of cards with my cell on it...

I regret putting my cell number on my cards every day. I used to get calls as early as 7:30 am and as late as midnight. How the f*** am I supposed to access your account to answer your questions when it is WELL OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS?!?! Telepathy?

Now when I hand out my card, I mention that if they are going to call my cell, I would appreciate it being during normal store hours. I'm not rude about it or anything, but I kinda laugh and say, "because people have actually called me at 7:30 am, can you believe that?!" And I've received a lot fewer calls period on my cell lately. Thank god.
