Att people, any porting specialists here?
I have a guest coming in to switch from tmobile to att tomorrow but i had a question.
She has her tmo acct established in MN with a WI area code. MN and WI are different market regions.
So my question is will she be able to port her number over? If so what market do i do the activation under.
Iirc you cant use the WI market cause the tmo acct was established in MN, but if i use the MN market, i dont think it will allow me to port a WI area code phone number. Is this correct? Am i screwed? Any advice? Please help. I am using posII if this is any help

give her a 'temporary' # and tell her she has to call ccare to port 🤣

Port it under the market from which the area code is. I'm guesssing Mid West Region or Minnesota/Northern Plains for WI. Those two states may even be the same market on our side.
Even if I get a phone in California with a Florida number they had to go into the Florida market to activate. Doesn't matter where the account was established.

You should be able to access GEARS through POS, (PDC), to find which market her number would be from. However, if you activate an out of market account, you may not get paid on it. Best idea would be to check with your manager or RAE first.
Hope I could be of some help! 😁

I don't know about you but COR stores and many agents are able to out of market activations. The credit and account will need to be run in the market the number is from. Thus it would be run in MN and not run in WI. You should be able to pull up in GEARS out of POS.COM and see what region the phone is based out of and run it under that region.

You will need the account number, password, ssn, billing adress and telephone number. I would honestly wait until the phone is activated before porting the number over in case it doesn't go right, youll have a paper weight until it does.
