Have you ever pronounced a customer's name incorrectly?

i work in a call center, and i have to do outbound âšī¸ ... everyday, the majority of my calls, the customers have these strange, uncommon, and difficult names. we have to say their whole names when calling outbound. it's not just their last names i can't say, but the first names too. i have totally butchered customers' names.

I worked in a black neighbor hood, and a customer came up and her name was Angelica (an-gel-ick-a). I figured it was supposed to be pronounced like some ghetto name so I called her Angelica (An-gel-eek-a). Totally lost the sale because of it. hahaha

That's how we can tell if we've got a solicitor on the phone (here at home). They mangle my name every time.
I work in inbound, so I have the customer say their name before I try to say it. That helps đ But some are too weird and I won't bother, instead they are "sir" or "ma'am" for the rest of the call. So far no one has called me out on any gender confusion based on voice or name, so I guess it's working alright.
