Homowners policies usually have a $100-$1000 deductible...I sure as hell wouldn't put a $300 device on my homeowners ploicy...I can imagine my insurance getting jacked up because I wanted them to replace a cell phone...

That's just plain stupid.

insurance from cell phone company $5.00
$50 deductible.

You make claims on your homeowner's policy for a $300-$500 cell phone, your policy will increase...

Thank you, but no.

The issue here is not the carriers decision. The insurance company, just like any insurance, charges a premium AND a deductible.

As far as homeowner's insurance, the deductible is ususually higher than $50 ☚ī¸

get a personal articles policy. i've got one for my camera/gear, and my laptop, all together about $3000 coverage, and i'm only paying about $6/month more. i did have to get renters insurance as well to be able to get the personal articles policy, but even that's only like $10/month and covers $30k. talk to your insurance agent. or if you have aig, or geicko, look into state farm or something that does more than auto insurance, and see if you can't save money by switching. when i moved from aig to state farm, i got the renters/personal articles policies as well, and still saved $50/month.

yea I was asking b/c a cust told me that she broke her Alltel phone, went in a store and they handed her another w/o renewing contract or paying deductable. I thought that sounded a lil unrealistic so I'd thought I'd ask the experts........... 😉 😁

If you buy their service plan, you can get it replaced in-store for no deductable and no contract extension. It doesn't cover catastrophic damage or loss, however.

I worked for a Cingular Agent about 4 years ago. Just as I was leaving the company they were starting up a private phone insurance program for within their company. The monthly premium was $3.99/month and had to be billed quarterly to a credit card, and there was no deductible. All the customer had to do was go to any of their store locations, make the claim, and they would be handed a new phone. They would get 3 choices for their new equipment. I thought it was a good idea. I think more places need to get on board with it!

Some indirect stores offer their own coverage that has no deductible. My store has a $59.87 plan (one-time fee) that covers malfunctioning and a replacement battery.
...

Oct 6, 2007, 1:36 PM
59.99 one time fee to add. Then if you ever need a phone $20 and we will replace with a brand new phone in store over counter. If your model is gone we give you new model. Example, bought an lg8300, we will probably give you a new 8350

Pretty sure life insurance doesn't replace anything though. Like if your husband dies, you don't get a refurbished model.

I don't pay a deductible when I crash my car, well at least I haven't yet and I've totaled 3 cars. Life insurance would be #2. And last would be girlfriend insurance, đŸ¤Ŗ Yeah and lucky they always seem to be upgrades from the older models. đŸ¤Ŗ
