How do you answer the phone?

Cellfoneslinger

Aug 16, 2007, 12:08 PM
I am at an authorized retailer and this is how we now have to answer the phone:
"Hello, thank you for calling ******* **********, an at&t authorized retailer, my name is cellfoneslinger, how can I help you?"

Its a horribly long greeting and a waste of time in my opnion. We have had several people just hang up before the at&t part of the greet already.

My friend works for the same company on the Sprint side and doesn't have to say anything about being an authorized retailer, in fact his kiosk doesn't even say they are a retailer. I have about 8 signs on my tiny kiosk stating that I am an authorized retailer. Yet when someone calls at&t CS and asked what the closest store is, when they need to do something only a COR store can do, C...

At my last company I would say "(store name), (me) speaking, how can I help you?"

Where I am now I just followed the lead of everybody else and say "(store name)" and that's it.

I personally answer the phone
"Thank you for calling -----, this is phoneyphonephone, how can I help you"

but most in my market answer "Hello thank you for calling ---- *store location* your home for *cell phone company* and *other product we sell* how can I help you today"

I think that one is insane.

Back in the day I used to be an assistant manager for a Godfather's Pizza restaraunt. One day I caught one of my delivery drivers answering the phone this way, word for word: "F**k you for calling Godfather's Pizza, how may I kill you?" He said it so quickly the customer never even noticed. Apparently the driver had been doing this randomly for some time.

this is krickt. Then they ask for one of our 4 different businesses in here. If we answered the phone like you did we wouldn't ever get around to actually talking to any customers on the phone, they would hang up on me, too.....
