Ok so not ALL customers are bags of dousche...
how about some stories about custys that redeem your faith in the human race...

I had a customer come in one day to upgrade her sons phone to a RAZR... however she accidently gave me her husdbands number to upgrade instead of her sons... so after i do the upgrade she comes back an hour later in a panic...
c- My husdbands phone stopped working i think we upgraded the wrong phone cuz the RAZR rings with his phone calls....
so i put all the numbers back in the right spots (without actually having the phones... ever walk a 9 year old through programming a phonenumber into a phone... cuz i have)
So once i set everything straight she insisted that i be rewarded... after saying that she did not ...

My favorite are the old ladies that come in with a phone purchased somewhere else and ask you for a tutorial. Of course I patiently walk them through all the features three or four times. And of course every time they are so grateful they attempt to pay me for the service. Sadly I always laugh and refuse but the offer is very generous! 🙂

I love good, understanding, grateful customers!

Last week, this old lady came in all flustered about her bill. We looked through it together, and I walked her through some of the information, then by calling in, I was able to adjust a couple things and save her some money.

She came in about 30 minutes later with a thank-you card and a $5 gift card to Jamba Juice. Yay!!

I just had a custie bring me a sheep! I spin and knit and have yarn in the back of the store, and just helped this custie out a little. She brought me a little sheep figurine.

Buying my snack at the store next door I saw that they were on sale for 66 cents. But I appreciate the gesture!... Nobody ever gets me food.

I am in Midtown Manhattan and this guy was old a Cingular 8125 in ATL and he jumped on the plan to NYC assuming that everything was taken care of. It was not!!!!!!!!! So, I fix him up after an hour of toiling through all the errors and he slips a $100.00 bill in my Suit pocket. 😁

I had this old lady come in with a broken phone, and our manager comes out of the back with an old phone a customer gave us after upgrading. So we just give the old lady the old phone.

2 hours later, she comes back with homemade chocolate chip cookies 🙂

I spent 3 hours updating and fixing an account that had been royally bent over by a Radio Shack... the customer was so happy he insisted on buying me something from Starbucks. I graciously denied him, and thanked him for the thought.

He came in with a $10 gift card! 😁

i'm so deep in the south, if i do something good OR if i do something bad, the response is the same: "I'll pray for you, sweetie."

exactly.

if you're ever in the south and someone says: "and john smith--bless his heart--" something terrible is about to be said or they simply adore that person. "and john smith--bless his heart--he just never could stop lookin at that kiddy porn." OR "and john smith--bless his heart--he started crying like a baby when he won that million dollars."

yeah.

Here's an interesting article pertaining to Jama Juice. I always wondered why there was a cautionary warning stating this product may contain peanuts on my back of Goobers.

I had a lady that had a broken Treo once. It took several days to get it repaired which eventually ended up FRUing the phone.

When she came in after I received the FRU to pick it up she had a bag of cookies that she brought for me.

I thought that was really nice. Then I opened the cookies after she left and a $50 bill fell out. 😳

that story reminds me of a slightly related story which also involves cookies and cash...

my friend was working at the cookie store in the food court of the mall... one slow afternoon a lady came up and just started chatting with him... he doesn't look like a chatter, he's all pierced and tattooed with crazy hair, you know, the works... he spent over an hour talking to her and eventually he had a customer so she walked away.
a little while later she came back and put $300 on the counter and said "thanks for chatting with a lonely old lady"... of course he tried to give the money back and insisted he would not keep it, so she put down another $100 and said "it's ok, i just won millions of dollars in the lottery and i don't want any of it ...

i know, right... he ended up using the money from the old lady to get his leg all tattooed... i think it's cool that she was just going around looking for strangers who would be kind to her and giving them hundreds of dollars to prevent her family from getting it... feisty!

My Daddy used to do stuff like that 'just because.' One time I left my shoes in front of the door, which he absolutely hates. He lectured me for 20 minutes and then told me to go put them away. I was almost crying because he was practically SCREAMING at me! When I picked up my shoe, I noticed that he had slipped a $50.00 bill into it. He just winked at me and walked away. Later on, we went to the mall and had a daddy-daughter date.

I once had a guy (a really hot one) come into my store with a broken phone. We don't fix phones on site, we send them out and give loaner phones while they are being repaired. Unfortunately I was totally out of loaner phones. Then I remembered I had a spare phone of my own in the back room. It was nothing special but I offered to let him borrow it because he was going out of town that afternoon and really needed one. He insisted on giving me $20. I refused, so he threw it on the counter and ran out the door.

When he got back into town his phone was fixed so he came back in to pick it up. He had my old phone with him and started apologizing for putting a small scratch on it. I told him it was no big deal, but he felt terrible. I...

As I work in one of the Customer Service call centers, customers can't actually bring me things (it'd be a bit of a trip for most of them). Nevertheless, I've had a few that were deeply appreciative. Some of the offers get downright bizzare and amusing. Some of the choice ones:

Once after an hour of rate plan optimization and upgrade option exploration, a customer offered, "If you're ever in New York, drop me a line. I'll pick you up at the airport with a bus." He was a supervisor with the Transit Authority.

I had a customer offer to buy me lunch if I was ever in her neck of the woods.

One lady offered to introduce me to her daughter because I seemed nice, patient, considerate, etc. 😳 And all I did was fix her voicemail speed-dia...

my friend who works in a call center had someone ask him to call them when they got off work so they could talk more intimately... only it was a man who thought he was talking to a girl (my friend does sound like a girl...) and he didn't correct him... i really wanted to call the guy and mess with him but my friend wouldn't give me the number... maybe he did call him... hmm...

I work in web chat, and I get chats all the time where they try to hit on me, proposition me, and other things that the mere mention of might make the moderator jump on this post. The thing is, I can't tell if it's a guy or a girl, so it kinda just creeps me out in general 'cause I can never imagine it being some hot girl who goes to Verizon web chat to pick up guys; I always imagine that it is either some 12 year old boy or some really old pervert.

I always just want to tell them that they're in the wrong chat, but that would be "unprofessional" according to the Watchmen.

that's gotta be kids... i mean, who's to say that you aren't some gross toothless recovering meth addict with scares all over your face from scratching it to pieces when you were all hopped up on speed and you're on a work-release program...

people are really sad though... they must not get very much contact with others... hopefully that continues so they don't reproduce...

I helped this guy in Radio Shack get some cameras for a security system, and his total came up to $201. He paid with 3 $100 bills and when I went to give him his change he said I could keep it. I looked at him and said are you serious. He said yes so I said ok.

Then I though that maybe he thought that he had given me 2 $100 bills and a $1 bill. So I put it in an envelope under the counter for a whole week. He never came back so I got a hefty $99 tip.

I've gotten a homemade apple pie. A bag of homemade fudge. $4 bucks, $3 bucks. My coworker received a 6 pack of budlight bottles. My assistant manager received a bunch fo flowers from this crazy stalker guy. SHe didn't quite like that gift though.

We aren't allowed to keep tips so all the money (the whole whopping 7 dollars) all has to go back on that customers account. Living in the midwest people can be really nice sometimes. I've been offered free drinks next time in the bar they work at/own a lot of times.

I once had a customer come in and activate after being jerked around by CS on the phone. A couple weeks later, he had some billing issues and tried to go through CS again...again with the problems. He came into the store on a day I wasn't working, and one of my coworkers helped him get his bill all straightened out.

Two weeks go by, and the customer comes in with a $20 gift card to Chili's for each of us, and a GLOWING letter for my manager.

It's custies like this that make the job worth doing 🙂

I love it when you take time to go beyond for a customer and they realize and appreciate it enough to tell your manager...

why is it that people have no problem taking the time to call a manager to complain about something but they so rarely take time to call to give praise...

at corporate mcdonalds stores, if a customer contacts corporate to compliment an employee they are obligated to give them a $.10 raise... it doesn't sound like much but if you get all your friends to call then you can start making a pretty good wage for a 16 year old! 😉
