i just had a question about the style of forums we have here. the way they're set up are a bit of a pain to read and to sort through, what with the thread titles being listed instead of just showing the post itself. it makes it hard to tell which posts are new and which ones are not, it just doesn't seem too user friendly to me.
any chance of getting a different kind of forum? such as UBB or even ezboard? an alternate site i visit often http://www.sweatydudes.com/forum (no it's not porn, 😛 )uses something i think is called phpbb, it only costs the owner $20 a month to run and it's definitely my favourite kind of board to visit.
i just thought i'd run this by you, though the forums probably don't get enough traffic to warranty changing th...

For the listings, try changing the View Options. Some people prefer the other views, which group messages by thread.

As for multiple messages per page, that's not easy with a hierarchical structure like the one used here.

With most bulletin board packages, there is no structure - just a continuous string of replies to the first message. It's often hard to tell who's replying to what, and the thread frequently wanders off-topic in five different directions, until it makes no sense at all.

With the hierarchical structure, every message is a reply to exactly one other message, so it's always clear who is replying to what. And if the conversation veers off in several different directions at once, that's totally okay because each "branch...

lol no worries, i've been using the view that shows threaqds with the most recent replies first, it's just a little confusing because i can't remember which forum i was just at so i go through all of them again to see if there are any new replies. 🙂 thanks anyway 🙂

If there is any way for the board to flag messages as 'read' or 'unread' for each user?
