This weekend, we launched an update to the site.

The big change is promoting "OSes" from just a few small forums to more prominent pages on the site, which - in addition to forums - include pages for related news.

As part of this change, we also changed how we list single-vendor OSes like iOS and BlackBerry. We're now treating them the same as multi-vendor OSes, instead of considering them "proprietary". (The way the smartphone market has evolved in the past few years, I think this makes the most sense going forward.)

A slew of other changes have been rolled out in this update (and in smaller updates earlier this month.) The highlights are:
  1. The main Forums page has a new look, making it easier and faster to get to the most

I noticed that the forum search option is not available in the OS specific forums. It is in other forums, such as the Lounge, phonescoop.com, etc. Is this a feature you accidentally omitted, or did you intentionally leave it out?

Just curious.

The forum search option is available in the forums that existed pre-facelift. The iOS and BlackBerry forums, though, do not have the forum search option, as they are new to the site.

It's an automatic feature of the code that the search box doesn't appear for a given forum until there are enough messages in that forum that you'd need a search function.
