If It Were'nt For Carrier Hype...

If it were not for carrier hype more people could grasp the concepts of "mode" versus "band"... or rather how mode and band relate to one another for our purposes... ****! I remember selling Bell Atlantic when they went digital... first they waffled as ATT deployed TDMA in their feeble attempt to address their capacity issues... Then BAM adopted CDMA (only after Sprint already made their commitment to Qualcom)It was then that "digital" was single band dual mode... but the phones were labeled "Digital"... These were single band dual mode phones... and the carrier labeled them digital... And so the the story goes that the necessity for the carriers through acquisition and/or merger to adopt multi-band multi-mode phone came to be... Subsequent...

Nokia: Bluetooth flaw gnaws at phone security

A bit of disturbing news.

"Nokia has confirmed that some of its Bluetooth-enabled cell phones are vulnerable to "bluesnarfing," in which an attacker exploits a flaw to read, modify and copy a phone's address book and calendar without leaving any trace of the intrusion.

Networking and security company AL Digital said on Monday that it had discovered a security flaw in Bluetooth, a wireless data standard, that could allow such an attack. The flaw affects a number of Sony Ericsson, Ericsson and Nokia handsets, but some models--including a handful of Nokia phones--are at greater risk because they invite attack even when in "invisible mode," according to AL Digital.

According to AL Digital's Bluestumbler Web site, vulnerable phones incl...

Bluetooth on Nokia 6310i

Hello guys,

I wanted to find out from anyone if they had successfully used a Bluetooth adapter to communicate with a Nokia BT equipped phone. I have heard that the Nokia BT stack acts funny and I want to know before I buy a Nokia with BT if i'll be able to even use it with my adapters. Please let me know if anyone is currently utilizing Bluetooth from the Nokia to another device using an adapter.

TREO 600 or P900 - please help

this sucks! i finished typing up a post and then the window went weird and my entry disappeared.

anyway, here's what this post is all about.

i absolutely need help from experts or at least from people who've seen what these two phones can do.

i've been having trouble choosing between treo and p900 and my aunt is asking me to choose fast.šŸ˜³ šŸ˜¢ she owns a treo600 and she's telling me that it's better than the p900 and another friend of mine also told me to buy treo. but now when i compared the two with phonescoop, i find that p900 has a lot more features than treo600 and treo carries a lower rating although it's a bit unfair since p900 only has one review and treo has several (and the 1st one was quite damaging). one of the main ...

Improving the power of handportable phones

Hello everyone
I am asking for eveyone's oppinion on the product called the Smoothtalker. I started working for the company 2 weeks ago and I am interedted on what people think of the product. The idea is boosting a handportable's power to 3 watts of power.

For anybody that would like to talk about the product with me my number is 1-877-726-3444 and my email at work is edavis@smoothtalker.com I am including an article that was written on the Smoothtalker.I admit it. Iā€™m a cell phone addict. As a wildlife photographer, outdoor writer, and cinematographer, my office is my phone. Add on the fact that I have a wife and three daughters and it becomes very important to me to have a good phone service. Last year I decided to spend several m...
