Need a recommendation

So, my father (almost 70) wants a new phone. Here are the limitations:

We don't want to have to get a data plan. So I'm looking to buy something used/unlocked. (we have AT&T.)

He wants something with a big enough screen to see pics of his granddaughter (and daughter).

It needs to have a keyboard big enough to see the keys and not fat-finger too much.

It needs good reception and reliability.

It would be nice if it's durable so it won't die if he bumps it or drops it in his workshop.

Battery time isn't a big deal as he only uses it when he's out and always charges it when he gets home.

Format isn't a big deal... flip, bar, etc. Doesn't matter.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

List of prepaid cell phone plans (USA)

I've compiled pretty much all major USA prepaid mobile plan providers on a simple website. This site is for informational purposes. I hope someone finds it useful, and I welcome any feedback to make it as informative as possible.

I remember the time when I wished to have any smartphone

Even though I tried a few smart-phones from the old eras (Nokia N73 and blackberry pearl 8100) I wasn't really satisfied with their offerings (since I was not an enterpriser).
So I decided to go back to feature phone territory where I could find simple media focused devices (that didn't require an expensive data plan), they were simple and fun to use (I had a Sony Ericsson C905 for a few years)
I changed phones a few times during the subsequent years, all of them feature phones.
My first encounter with an smartphone after that was kind of fortuitous, I broke my phone and I didn't have the money to buy a new phone that I'd like. I put my simcard in an old nokia 1100 for a few days until a friend of mine sold me an old Iphone (1st generatio...

HTC DNA or Samsung Galaxy S III ?

I've been going back and forth between the two. But I can't seem to decide. The non-removable battery is a concern in the DNA but the less than stellar (for a flag device) are disconcerting. Lastly, I have several Samsung product. They seem to be good products overall, but every product I've bought (refrigerator, TV, Galaxy S continuum,) all have one design flaw that drives absolutely bonkers. Any thoughts? (BTW, I'm on Verizon.)

Microsoft Office on my HTC 4G LTE

I am assuming that this HTC 4G LTE has the capability to read Microsoft documents (Word, Excel). I hooked my phone to my laptop and downloaded some files to the phone. I wasn't sure where in the directory put them under "Android Data". Now i can't find the files on the phone. Anyone help as to how to do this and where best to download the files?

I want a Smartphone without a Data plan??

Is there any carrier who offers a good quality Smartphone without requiring a Data Plan?

I've been with Verizon for 15 years using Basic phones. I really would like to have a quality phone -- good camera, music player, good call quality, good speaker, larger capacitance glass touch screen.

But I have no need for a Data plan. One would think there's a way to do this. Verizon has no such option though.

Are all cell phone carriers the same as Verizon? I could pay Verizon an additional $30 a month for a Data Plan and get a free iPhone 4, but that's a wasted $720 over two years!

Thanks for any suggestions.

Can Deleted SMS Messages Be Recovered on My Cell Phone?

With so many make and model cell phones entering the market every day, it can be difficult keeping up with the changing technology. Cell phone providers often charge outrageous fees and long wait times to recover deleted data from their cell phones. This is where the software comes into play. It is a great new solution for people who are looking to recover lost messages without the services of their provider. This software can be found online and downloaded using mobile applications. This is the first step to getting back your missing data.

Once the software is downloaded, it can be launched. If the SMS messages were stored on the phones memory, they will be found in the C: files of the phones memory. If the messages were stored on...
