ANY NEW PHONES

My contract is up next month and I'm trying to decide on a new phone. The alltel rep said they will probably start selling verizon phones by the end of august but nothing at verizon catches my eye either. I thought about switching to Sprint but would rather stay with alltel/verizon. Any ideas on new phones coming to alltel/verizon? Thanks for the input.

What kind of a phone are you interested in using?

There are always new phones coming out, although I think from a marketing point of view there might be something special happening at the end of the third quarter when school goes back into session. I couldn't decide on an Alltel phone myself, so I ended up with Verison's Samsung Renown that I purchased outright and had a rep keep my Alltel plan intact by reprogramming my handset. Now, I'm out of contract and have my 11 (10 + 1 bonus) My Circle numbers available to me.

If you are still in an Alltel market that Verizon takes over soon, and you want to keep your Alltel plan intact and get a phone at a promotional price, you're probably going to have to decide which Alltel phone availab...

What is the best Alltel phone currently available for internet access? HTC Diamond? I tried out the Blackberry Curve and was not impressed with how websites were rendered. Email is important but I rarely text.

I am currently out of my Alltel contract and want to take advantage of locking in a new contract before I have to switch to Verizon.

It you're thinking about the Diamond, you'll love the keyboard on the Touch Pro. Trust me on this, I have one! 🤣

Just make sure you get a desktop charger, several ideas can be found in the Touch Pro section of the www.pocketpcgeeks.com forum, and an extra battery, or two.

I would go with the Curve. You can change the rendering so it looks like Internet Explorer or Netscape when you are on the internet. Or get Opera Mini! It is a lot better than the actual browser on the Curve. The curve will also be more stable of an operating system and won't freeze as much as the HTC would. Not to mention the Curve is the number 1 smart phone in North America. It has sold more than even the i phone!

Here is the strong proof.

In fact, out of the top 5 smart phones in North America, Blackberry held 3 spots.

😉

You would need a WINMO device and Skyfire, Opera Mobile, or Fennic for that. Skyfire being the best all around, but I use Opera for 99% of everything.

This I can't answer since i have never used an ipod. I use my Curve for all my media and songs. But Opera Mini will look a lot better than the browser on the Curve. It looks just like on a computer and will have a box on the screen. Put the box anywhere and click and it will zoom in. I don't even touch my browser anymore. All I use on my Curve for the internet is Opera Mini as it is the best one I have found.

Now when Skyfire comes out for all Blackberry devices, it is in Alpha testing right now on the Storm I believe, I will try it out and more than likely use it as Flash will work on it so I can watch hulu etc. on it.

Thanks, that is what I was wondering. I looked at the Curve in the Alltel store and thought the browsing experience was, well, crappy.

My Sister has the Storm on Verizon but I wanted to stay with Alltel another year hoping the Iphone would come to Verizon next year. No way, I am willing to move to AT&T's crappy service for a phone !!! 🤣
