Since att bought the verizon towers from the left over alltel areas or whatever, does that mean the ares that didnt go to verizon is now going to eventually be att, and should we now get the option to cancel when that happens since it will be cdma to gsm conversion and i will be required to change my plan and phone?

In a word, yes.

It does look like the divested markets that Verizon dumped will be going AT&T eventually. Since AT&T uses GSM technology, I think you're going to be stuck UNLESS they keep the CDMA towers going for a while longer, perhaps as long as two years (just an opinion on my part, you understand), when you would ordinarily upgrade your phone anyhow, and IF you want to stay with AT&T at that point, you would probably have to take one of their phones and plans.

Not very fair, is it?
