Which Alltel phone should I chose??!?

I just opened a new account with Alltel yesterday. I had a hard time chosing the right phone, but picked the BB Curve and like it a lot. But, I like the looks of the new Motorola Evoke, but hey still haven't received them yet in the store I went to. I'm thinking seriously about taking my BB to another store and if they have it, exchange it here. But, I know this is stupid, but I like the looks of the Banter as well. I don't like any phone with Windows Mobile, so that's out of the question. But phones in the $200 range, what would you pick?

Not to mention the Evoke doesn't have picture messaging. So if that is important to you, don't get it. Stick with the Curve. It is by far a way better phone!

I didn't get any replies to the original post, so I assumed nobody knew much about the Evoke. Well, I went and did the exchange and this phone SUCKS ASS! I dropped it walking out of the store and the silver ring around the front cracked and chipped off and the black rubber came off as well. This phone is poorly made. The salesman at my local store didn't even show it to me, just did the exchange. It wasn't on display because someone had stolen it. Wow, I really screwed up and it's already been exchanged now, so I'm stuck. I couldn't believe how rude the employees were. I stood there for 25 minutes before anyone even helped me. They saw that I had an exchange and were chasing after customers wanting new service instead of someone the...

It prob won't help you but go and try to exchange it once more My manager would do it once and a while I doubt they will exchange it but it doesnt hurt to try I just have to say when you ask people for advice and you got the way they tell you not to why would you even ask because to me it sounds like you didn't care what we said and that you were firm on that craporola I told you motorola sucks !! I would have chased after something i would actually make money off 2 !! I mean Alltel loses money or your exchange and quite a bit to be exact ! That is why vzw now charges a $35 fee to exchange the phone so they recover loss from that type of customer it's called do your research and then go buy the phone don't ask questions go exchange it and th...

dude, I waited an entire day and nobody responded, so I assumed nobody knew anything about the phone. And, I did pay a $35 restocking fee yesterday to get the Evoke. I hope you're not in customer service, because you seem like a real dick.

Try to take it back it would be worth paying a restocking fee if you don't like the phone maybe the manager will work with ya you also have to realize most people who post here have a life and a job so sorry they couldnt get back to you but life happens I would call customer service and ask for customer retention they could help you because you could actually go back to alltel and get your money back and cancel the upgrade then go to another store and bang get your curve back! But i would call customer retention and they will more than likely help just tell them how they treated you when you went to exchange the phone but remember to be nice about it and say they were really rude to you that will help

Couple of things would you hate the phone if you hadn't dropped it?? Did you read the review of the Evoke that I wrote?? I covered most of the issues with the phone that I could see.

Unlike what Alltel says it is not close to a smart phone. I really don't think it is as bad as you are makint it to be.

Hello youjerms1977:

I sent you a separate message. I apologize that you are not happy with your Motorola evoke. The evoke is not intended to be a "smart phone" and compete vs. Blackberry or HTC (RIM / MS Windows OS) devices. The Motorola evoke is a social networking simple touch user interface phone. It does support basic POP3 / IMAP 4 email clients; but doesn't have corporate email functionality.

I would like to help you better on your issues with the Motorola. I've sent you my email in another message; please contact me and I will help you out with getting your unit swamped out and bringing you up to speed on everything the evoke has to offer that makes it a compelling device.

Familyguy, you are the bomb! I called CS and asked for Customer Retentions. This guy answered and I told him I didn't know if I had the right department. The first thing he asked me was, "Does your problem consist of you wanting to end services with Alltel if we do not resolve your problem?" I told him yes, and he said, "Then you have the correct department, how can I help you?" I told him how crappy this phone was, how rude the guys in the store were, how they ignored me once they realized I wasn't there to open a new account, and how they sold me the phone without letting me test it first, before they even activated it. He told me to pick any phone in the Alltel lineup and it would be shipped overnight over the weekend and I would re...

I am not so sure the store will take it back. Did you let the guy in retention know that it was damaged? If not, he might of mentioned that to you if you had told him. I don't know of any store that would take a phone back with the damage that you said it suffered. Our store for instance will not take a phone back if it got damaged. Even if they just bought it 5 hours ago. And if we where to take it back, we would charge up to full retail for the phone to take it back. Depending on how damaged it was that is. If it was unusable, we would charge them the remainder of the cost of the phone so we could replace it.

What I would do if I where you is check on that to be sure so you don't get the other phone then take the Evoke in to ret...

Hey! I work for Verizon Wireless, and I can help you with your question about Alltel and Verizon merge.

First, I am happy you got your BlackBerry back. Next, all your services will be the same (My Circle, Price Plan, Text Plan, Data Plan, ect.). You can already call Verizon people for free, so if you have My Circle and put a Verizon number in, you can change it to another network/landline because it is free to talk to all 86.6 Million Alltel and Verizon customers. You will find faster data speed with Verizon upgrading Alltels EVDO network to Rev A Data. I think June is when your area is going all Verizon.

Wow dude thanks for all of your help. You seem very knowledgable. Do you know how my service will change/update on my phone in June? Is it true that my phone will automatically receive an OTA update and reset itself to say VZW?

Well, I know on Verizon Phones, we have a thing called ERI which shows which network you are on: Verizon Wireless, Extended Network, or Roaming. On Alltel, I think it's just your banner. But, when ever they switch your towers over to Verizon, your phones ERI Banner (diffrent from your Background Banner) will say Verizon Wireless. Im not sure if it would reset tho.
