Does anybody have any idea when alltel will be getting new phones? My contract ends in April but most of their phones right now I really don't like =/ So I'm waiting for them to finally switch to vzw or for new phones, so does anybody know?

You couldn't be more wrong. remember there is still an alltel that has been divested...which WILL be getting new phones just as they would had there not been a buyout. look for new phones in the next 30 days.

You can't go wrong with the HTC Touch Pro or the Diamond, depending on what features you are looking for.

If you are within 4 months of your contract ending and you are in an area that is definately going to VZW you can go to VZW and get a phone and a verizon phone withut an ETF from Alltel

again the requirements for this are:

within 4 months of your Alltel contract ending

In an area that is definately becoming VZW

Does this mean that if my contract is up with alltel that I can go to VZW and get one of their phones by extending my Alltel contract if I am in an area that is def going to be VZW? Basically, my contract has been up for a while, but Alltel phones suck so I have still not resigned, I am month to month. I really like the service and plan I have from Alltel, but I want one of the VZW phones. Is it possible to have both?

Alltel in non-divested markets will be receiving non branded phones that VZW carry. Alltel has already received Pink and Silver pearls there will be many more to come. As for "new" phones i do not think so, but we will start seeing more VZW phones available from you local alltel store

If Alltel is smart, they will mirror what Verizon is carrying, including the CDMA/GSM combos, and not just the PDA's. I'm eligible to upgrade with Alltel now, but the only phone I want is on Verizon's service, the Samsung U810, aka The Renown. Dual CDMA, and quad-band GSM, and NO DATA PLAN REQUIRED!!! Wooo-hooo! It doesn't get better than that for travelers who don't need the data and pay exhorbatant fees for services they won't use.
