Switching from Verizon to Nextel

I currently have VZW, have had them since back when it was Bell Atlantic/NYNEX. The only reason I keep them now is because of the employee discount I get. But, since I'll be changing jobs, and my contract will be up, I'm looking at Nextel. My questions are, is the customer service and support good, and what is their phone upgrade policy?

JD Powers & Assoc. ranked Nextel #1 in customer care.
As a current customer you can upgrade to any phone at the same price as a new customer as long as you sign a new contract.

Thanks for the info and the link on Nextel. The freedom of upgrading your phone is rather nice. Verizon is WAY too strict on upgrading your phone. I understand the company has to recoup the losses it takes by selling phones below retail, but if a customer is willing to take a contract extension and is okay with the penalties if they break the contract, so what if the upgrade to a new phone once a year or even more frequently.

no problem what so ever.

nextel is easy with the phone upgrades and changing plans. like you can get a phone upgrade anytime you want, and you can change your plan anytime you want, you just have to add 1 year contract to the day you add it. im not too sure with the other companies but nextel is very good like that.

anymore questions feel free to ask.

Soo...
😁 😉
Could I get service with nextell, upgrade my phone every week.

Get a $200 phone for $50 each week just by adding a week more to my contract.

Then sell the phones over ebay for $150 thereby making a $100/week profit?
😁 😛

I guess I'm asking. What is nextel's policy on upgrades. How often can a customer get the discounted rate by extending their contract?

So my plan to get unlimited discounted phones and sell them at a profit on ebay would work? No saftey measures or restrictions?

In that case, want to invest in my start-up costs for my new ebay store? I wonder if CheepNewNextelPhones is still available as a user-name...

Sorry VZWCustServ... it's $50 off, not any upgrade for $50. slight oversite... besides, I don't think anyone can beat Amazon's $220 rebate on a $170 phone. Granted I'm still waiting for my first bill so I can see if they hold true to their rebate. I'll post here as soon as I receive it (August-ish?).

In the mean time, how long does it take for Nextel to set up net services and GPS? It's been 2 days now...

What GPS and net services are you waiting for? I activate them same day for my customers.

OK, finally got everything working today, except GPS... have to go in to a store for that one.
Their story goes like this: I got my service activated on the 22nd. Nextel is supposed to have everything set up in 24 hours (Net services, GPS, MyNextel, etc.), but something wasn't working in their system. As of yesterday afternoon (+48 hrs) My account still wasn't showing up in MyNextel's servers, nor was it showing up in Nextel's Wireless area.
A Tier 2 guy said that something was bugged in their system so that none of the new accounts in my area were able to get Net Services activated (I'm in Central Fl, and it shouldn't have affected existing users). Another Tier 2 guy later had me call back to try them again. No luck... Today (almost 72 hr...
