AT&T Wireless Reconsiders Nokia PTT Solution
Yesterday, 2:12 PM source: TheStreet.com
In a conference call with analysts Friday, AT&T Wireless executives said there had been "a change of plan" in the company's efforts to launch Push-To-Talk (PTT) walkie-talkie service. The company had previously committed to deploying "pre-standard" PoC technology from Nokia. AT&T Wireless executives said they would now delay their PTT project indefinitely, instead working with other carriers (presumably Cingular) to agree on a common platform. Nokia's technology differs from the PoC proposal backed by Ericsson, Motorola and Siemens. The OMA standards group has yet to pick which technology will become the official PoC standard.
