When you look at the ever-more-rugged devices ATT is introducing, including the Sonim line, and the way ATT is positioning their PTT plans, and the fact that they are doing their new PTT over LTE, it makes one wonder if ATT might not be the next Nextel...

AT&T | Done? 😳 😉

In order for at&t to be the next anything, they need to concentrate on getting their customer service and network issues resolved first. Once again, they ranked dead last in both in Consumer Reports latest reader poll.

Interesting viewpoint. How would you explain, then, that Sprint has lost 13,000,000 Nextel customers?

Perhaps you could also explain how it is that AT&T has 106 million wireless subscribers, compared to Sprint's 56 million.

While you're at it, regarding your comment above denigrating AT&T's network, can you please explain how it is that Verizon & AT&T are both demonstrably farther along on their 4G network buildout than Sprint is, even though Sprint started ...

1. With the rollout of free mobile to mobile and the larger subscriber bases both AT&T and Verizon acquired through mergers, PTT had reached its peak around 2004 and had nowhere to go but down. People generally migrate toward larger, seemingly "better" alternatives.

2. Until Dan Hesse took over, Sprint was led by incompetent idiots who drove away the remaining subscriber base with poor marketing, brand confusion, and no clear objectives for the future. The smartphone revolution was just on the horizon, and SprintNextel was still offering America last decade's products.

Congratulations, with the exception of one point, your responses are well-spoken. Still not convincing, though, because they are your words & opinions, not supported by published facts. But at least you were civil & stayed on-point, which is nice for a change.

Here's where you are absolutely wrong:
gloopey1 said: "Your second statement that Sprint's 3G network buildout is faltering in incorrect. Sprint is actually way ahead of schedule."

Here is the reality, the facts spoken by Dan Hesse and Danny Elfman:
"Network Vision: Sprint has slipped a little in its Network Vision network deployment..."

These are not my words, they are those of Consumer Reports. Remember, they were also ranking Sprint last five years ago. Today, Sprint has either tied with Verizon or come in second...way ahead of at&t, for the last three years.

Your response is off-point. The previous reply was related strictly to your previously posted erroneous statement regarding network buildout, about which you are ignoring the FACTS of Dan Hesse's and Danny Elfman's public statements. Go back to the links I provided and you'll see that my statements regarding Sprint's struggles and delays (yet again) with network improvements/additions are backed by publicly-available facts.

Elfman and Hesse's statements were about the project as a whole, which includes relocation of antennas and towers. Our discussion was about Nextel's shutdown and 3G improvements; both are ahead of schedule.

Another in a long line of the old Gloopster's "swing and a miss" tries.

No one accepts your "self-appointed spokesman for Dan Hesse" positions. You have zero authority to speak for Hesse, and thus far you have not cited any legitimate, published information to back up your posts, whereas I cited reputable sources and pasted in Hesse's own words as quoted in those reliable sources.

If you must post another retort, do try and find reputable, reliable sources, provide direct quotes, and provide links to your sources. Informative facts are useful to illuminate the issues, additional mere opinions from you are not.

Gee, last time I checked, Consumer Reports was a reputable source. ...

No argument that CR usually is a good source of info, although CR, like everything in life, is not 100% accurate nor 100% trustworthy.

Problem with your continued posts on the topic of network upgrades in this particular case, is that you are comparing apples to oranges, going off-topic, and failing to cite links where people can verify your "statements" relative to your contention that Network Vision is ahead of schedule. To do that, you'd have to cite reliable sources that prove that Hesse & Elfman were either mistaken or lying when they made their Q3 public statements, neither possibility of which is likely.

So, for the last time, I was referring to Hesse's & Elfman's Q3 public statements that Network Vision was behind schedule, w...

But wait, there's more!

Additional real-world info on SDC, again from Sprint's own customer-feedback website, as recently as last month (Dec. 5th 2012):
