A few days ago i saw this guy with the new i830 i got a quick glimps of the phone,it's very skinny and when you open it up it kinda of has the shape of the i730. The guy told me that almost everyone in his company has had the phone for awhile now. So are company's the first to get un released products before the public?

Whatever this guy was carrying was not an i830 as the unit was just approved by the FCC this week.

https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/tcb/reports/Tc ... »

This is a quote at the bottom of the FCC site:

CE: This device has shown compliance with the conducted emissions limits in 15.107, 15.207, or 18.307 adopted under FCC 02-157 (ET Docket 98-80). The device may be marketed after July 11, 2005, and is not affected by the 15.37(j) or 18.123 transition provisions.

NEXTEL (or any other company) would be foolish to sell a non-type accepted phone to anyone.

I have not only seen the new i830, but I have used it as well. I have a coworker whos uncle works for Motorola. He is an engineer there and has to test teh batteries. Typically, they just test the batteries, but this time they were giving out the phones. He does not use Nextel, so he gave it to my co-worker to give to his other uncle. Yesterday he brought it to work knowing I would be there, and I got to test it out. It is a copper color, and the front LCD is at the bottom of the unit, and is larger. It is like the i730 in the sense that is is 65K colors. The entire company is out of stock of them, but they are real. It uses the same charger as the 730, but here is the catch. The battery is totally different than the 2-digit and 3-d...

I 99% sure that most if not all of the cellular engineering & R&D is done in Plantation Fl. where the iDEN phones are designed and manufactured. I find it odd that the just the battery engineering would be done in GA.

Either way, the phones cannot get manufactured or deployed prior to FCC type acceptance. Moto. has very strict rules on non-type accepted devices leaving the plant at any time as I have many contacts in the Plantation plant and spent many weeks in Schaumburg Ill. at the corporate HQ and been thru their security screening more than once.

Do you have any idea when the 830 is coming out? Is it longer than the 730 or the same size? I also heard that it is thinner.

As far as the release date, I have heard from some sources that around July it will be hitting the streets, but of course NEXTEL could have other ideas.

No idea as to when the 830's are coming out, but I do have an answer to the size. THe length is the same, the antenna is a little bit different. IT is about half the size of the 730. Ok so for some new news, there is going to be a 605 that is being released, and is going to be replacing the 205, or whatever it is that is the non-flip recent phone released by nextel. It is going to be color, and is going to have a camera attatchement like the moro 777i. There is going to be a 930 released as well, same size as the 730, but going to have a front COLOR LCD screen that is larger and will be able to hold pictures, and will be located at the bottom of the phone when closed. When you open the phone, you realize, it is a Smartphone. The flip ...
