>>> Agreed—my visits to this website support it equally as much as your visits do. As a multi-line Nextel customer of ten years, my preference is to leave the Nextel forum as-is for the remaining twelve months that Nextel will exist.
My primary objection to rolling the Nextel forum into a single Sprint forum is purely a practical one. The comparativley few Nextel posts would be swamped inside the large Sprint forum, making any Nextel/iDEN related posts difficult to find.
Once Nextel is shut down, that is a natural breakpoint at which to remove the separate Nextel forum, IMO. When Nextel is shut down in June 2013, Nextel customers will either migrate inside Sprint to the new Sprint Direct Connect, at which time their postings SHOULD be in the Sprint forum, because that is purely a Sprint product, or they will jump ship to a different carrier, at which time they will probably no longer care at all about any Sprint or former Nextel forums.
Personally, I don't consider it my place to help Sprint-Nextel with its brand management, so the opinions that the Nextel forum being standalone and at the bottom of the forums list is "minimizing its impact" as it were, is a complete non-issue. Looked at from a point of view different than yours, it is equally possible that overall readership will drop slightly if your plan is implemented, because Nextel customers are not going to want to wade through the deluge of Sprint postings, so they'll just give up and stop visiting the forums page. I know that is what I will do.
Ignore the Nextel forum if you can't stand it. The first rule of business is "Don't try to fix something that isn't broken.", and this is a classic case where just leaving it alone to take care of itself holds true. It is not broken, it does not need your "fixing". Just leave it alone.
