Possibly because the two customer bases are effectively on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their mobile phone needs. Nextel users on the whole have no interest in slick, trendy phones, games, video, etc, while most legacy Sprint users have no interest in simple, ruggedized, work-centric, PTT phones.

Frankly, I'm not worried about a thing, but apparently you are. You were the one who broached the subject, suggested getting rid of the separate Nextel forum, and asked the moderators what was going on, I routinely ignore all but two forums on this website, and I've never even thought of asking the moderators to change anything based on my personal likes/dislikes. I am a guest here, not an owner, so it only makes sense for me to ignore those portions in which I have no interest, visit only the forums & news items & reviews in which I have an interest, and not pester the moderators as to how they should run their website.

Really, if you can just ignore the separate Nextel forum for twelve months, the issue will disappear on its own. Live and let live, as it were.
