What do you like most about your Nextel service or phone?

1) Nextel PTT is STILL phenominal. Unbelievably good performance, a can't-live-without-it tool once you have it and once you "get it".

2) The phones are simple, efficient, bulletproof. No nonsense, just a solid "get-'er-done" design philosophy. The SmartKey, speakerphone, volume, PTT buttons all on the outside of the phone, combined with configurable flip options, make the phones themselves the quickest, easiest to use in the business. Most models have great speakerphone performance.

3) NextMail service.

4) The former Nextel's customer service was absolutely stellar for me. Not so much now since Sprint took over, but the OLD Nextel's customer service was just unbeatable.

5) The fact that Nextel PTT worked in the aftermath of 9-11...

I love the PTT, it's fantastic. Plus I love that I never have network congestion issues. We only have 11 million people on our network between the Nextel and Boost subscribers. I just hope that Sprint will remain committed to building the Nextel brand, because if we keep losing customers, we may be sold or shut down, and I am not about to give up my Nextel service!!

Absolutley love Nextel. I've had service with them for 9 years now. By far the most reliable PTT and voice network that I've found.

It's a lot more than I expected.

I'm still trying to determine if they're serious or just trollin'.

People LOVE to use walkie-talkies in Wal-Mart. That's the demographic we're shooting for.

Well, I was serious in my earlier reply. If this was a joke thread on your part, then shame on you.

Any of the rest of you think it's a joke, please go elsewhere, and get a life while you're at it.

I'm actually seeing who uses and likes their Nextel service, and why. I do surveys like this with other things too, like the i1 phone's service and reports of Evo phones overheating.

I know iDEN is older and not as high-speed as other networks (for data and texting) but hands down it's the best for voice and PTT, which I do a lot of.

Nextel's coverage is great for the areas that have service.

My only concern about Nextel is this: we now have only 11 million people on our network, 6 mill postpaid, and 5 mill prepaid. My concern is that Sprint may sell us, shut us down, or start taking away our towers and limiting our coverage even more than it is. We need to get more people on our network to keep it up and running so we don't lose our service.

RE: "We need to get more people on our network to keep it up and running so we don't lose our service."

It's kind of nice having so few users on Nextel, because the network is running so well now, but I hear what you're saying about possibly losing it.

However, that's going to be difficult, given that Sprint has completely stopped advertising Nextel, even to the point of removing all of the signs & posters from the Sprint corporate and affiliate retail stores. The stores were given the word a few months ago to remove anything from the windows and the permanent signs with the word "Nextel" on it. The local Sprint affiliate store even yanked down the small sign in their front window that identified them as a Nextel repair center (now, th...

And if you notice, Boost Mobile now has more CDMA phones out than iDEN. I have a feeling that Nextel is on it's way out. Our network will either be sold off, or turned over for public safety use. iDEN won't be shut down, but our ability to remain on it as consumers is potentially in danger. :-(

There's a such thing as foreshadowing too much. As Sprint is.

So I just dumped my Sprint Palm Pre because I was having so many issues with signal and performance at my new house. My friend had a Nextel phone he was using in my house and it showed a full 4/4 bars of signal. Sprint phone had maybe 1 bar and sometimes none. This was pulling signal from the same tower location as well! I just switched over to an old Nextel phone and I have been completely happy with the switch. I can live without data services and fancy web browsing, thats what wi-fi is for. When it comes to voice and direct connect Nextel is amazing.
