Congrats & welcome to Nextel.

The i365 is indeed one of the highest-rated iDEN phones to come out in awhile. It is bulky and not pretty, but it gets great reception and is as reliable as can be.

The Nextel iDEN network is performing well in most areas of the US now, largely because they lost several million customers since Sprint took over, so the iDEN network in the US is nowhere near capacity.

Also, the draconian "rebanding effort" is mostly completed, so what was once an absolute killer of iDEN performance is now largely behind them. During rebanding, iDEN goes from best-in-class to worst-in-class and it is difficult for us users to endure, so be very glad you were not on Nextel back then.

Sprint-Nextel has stated recently that the iDEN network is so under-utilized now that they are planning on taking spectrum bandwidth from iDEN and using it for other things that Sprint-Nextel is working on. So enjoy the great performance of iDEN while you can, because soon they will start cannabilizing it and then performance will suffer noticeably.

Shortly after they start cannibalizing spectrum and performance takes another big hit, more users will abandon Nextel, the economics of iDEN will go underwater, and Sprint will probably kill iDEN altogether. Not trying to be a downer, but this is the trajectory on which Sprint has put iDEN/Nextel, so just be informed and enjoy it while you can.
