(Rumored) Touchscreen Android device coming to Nextel

Motorola is developing the i1, a touchscreen push-to-talk Android smartphone for the Nextel network.

From what I've heard, it's to have a 3.1-inch touchscreen, WiFi enabled, 5.0 megapixel camera, and is to be certified military spec for dust, shock, vibration, etc.

Not sure how well it will do, as it is not expected to be WiMAX enabled, and will rely on WiFi for any real internet connection screen. Seems like this might hinder the Android's capabilities, but we will see.

I wonder if the text messaging would work in a WIFI spot with no iDEN service since it is MMS?

It will work, but it will take awhile longer to send than it would on Sprint's network. The Blackberry 8350i does MMS messages.
