When compared to regular Nextel iDEN phones:

ic902:

ringers- normal "7"
speaker- quieter "5"
chirp volume- louder "8"

V950:

ringers- normal "7"
speaker- normal "7"

Certainly both phones are modeled on the Sprint user interface (UI) overall, not the legacy Nextel UI.

I have not used a Qchat phone, so I can't say anything about the PTT UI's, but I do know for a fact that the overall UI of the ic902 is based on legacy Sprint UI, not the legacy Nextel UI.

The legacy Nextel UI's functionality and customizability is vastly superior to the legacy Sprint UI, at least for regular phone & PTT functions. Of course Nextel is punk on data & media, but for phone & PTT functions, including the "Smart Key" and other exterior buttons, the Profiles fuctionality, call filtering, etc, the legacy Nextel UI is waaaaaaaaaay better than anything from Sprint or ATT or VZ or T-Mo. The ic602 and V950 have exterior "smart key" functionality. The square button will key up recent calls and the volume rocker scrolls through the list. The speaker button will also dial either the last number you called or the one highlighted.

I agree that Legacy Nextel phones still have the most customizable UI's, although the one on the above mentioned phones is okay.

The one customizable feature from the Sprint side that didn't make it over is the "roam only" option on the V950. It's available on the 602, but rarely will you find an available PCS network to use it on.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that at least some of the more useful functionality from the legacy Nextel UI have made it to the Qchat phones; perhaps not all is lost.

Do you know if the "Profiles" capability that legacy Nextel phones have has the same customizability & features on the V950?

Thanks

No. The only profile settings you can change are between "Sprint Ahead" and Classic Motorola. I chose the Moto theme since it is more like what I was accustomed to.

I also loved the fact on Nextel phones that you could re-arrange the order of the menu items. On my V950 and ic602, you can change the "favorites" list on the left soft key to contain anything from too
