Replying to: Qchat vs. iDEN by motoman117

Which one do you guys prefer and why? I am currently on the Nextel iDEN network, and I do not know whether to get new iDEN phones, or Qchat phones. I read that Sprint is selling the 800MHz spectrum to the gov, so I dont know if Nextel will continue anyway. But still, what are your thoughts? Thank you in advance!
My recommendation would be to maybe consider a Powersource phone for now instead. As these guys have pointed out, QChat is still a new technology, and the bugs are still being worked out, along with coverage issues.
I do think once those issues are resolved that QChat will be a better product. Aside from having more versatility, QChat runs over, in my opinion, a better network with clearer voice communications than iDEN. CDMA doesn't suffer from the same capacity issues, either. Fewer disconnects and blocked calls.
The best feature though is the enhanced cellular coverage you will have with a QChat phone. Even though it currently has less PTT coverage, it has far greater cellular voice coverage with roaming. You may not know: iDEN doesn't roam at all and Powersource phones only roam in the PCS band.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
