Delete the first blank line or add a letter.
Why this works: just like when you hit reply to an email and it adds a blank line at the top for you to write in, forwarded text messages from nextel phones add a blank line at the top of the message for you to write in. Other carriers see the blank line, register it as a blank message, and chop the rest of it off.
