Sprints problem

The biggest problem with Sprint are their selling tactics. I am an agent for three major carriers. The most common thing I hear from customers is how their so called agent " fed them a line of bull to get the sale." They are always trying to make deals with customers all over the country rather than staying in a market they understand. Fraud is the second problem. People ordering phones on accounts other than theirs, with Nextel not really doing anything about it. I have been in this business for over 20 years. Nextel was a great company until they forgot about the customer and keeping their network strong.

True, Sprint F'd Nextel, big-time. If anyone was "sold a bill of goods" it was NEXTEL that got sold the bill of goods. Sold into the hands of a totally incompetent Sprint Corporation. And Hesse or no Hesse, they still just don't get it.

But don't forget that it was Tim Donahue that architected the deal with Sprint, so in realilty it was Nextel's own father that sold us Nextel customers downriver.

Tim Donohue did facilitate the merger, but I have a feeling it was because he was ready to step down, and who better to take the reigns than another large carrier? What he didn't take into effect was how dirty the legacy Sprint reps really are, and their execs along with it. Sprint didn't care about Nextel's products or services, just the ARPU, something they were severely lacking.

But things changed, and the Nextel execs starting jumping ship. When Sprint started tanking, Tim Donahue made the step to help save Sprint by taking over along with a multi-million dollar deal with SK Telecom. Sprint execs, knowing Donohue would come in and clean house, denied the offer. So Sprint continues to tank, and will continue to do so even further ...

sprint just doesnt understand that what sells is people! now they are introducing all these new policies that are not going to resolve their customer service problem one bit! i mean seriously, what does making sure that all the reps ask for an updated e-mail address have to do with fixing a customers issue! people want to be talked to by people not script readers!

First off sprint stinks because they have low level poor revune generating customers, not to mention too many plans that are difficult to understand. Second nextel or tmobile I don't which was the bigger joke. Nextel is a walkie talkie that requires monthly service and gets a slightly larger ptt area with worse service.

The current set of plans are not complicated.

Talk plans
450
900
give you the # of min, 7pm N&W, and mobile to mobile

Everything messaging plans
450
900
give you all the same features as the talk plan, but with unlimited text/pic/video messaging

Everything data plans
450
900
unlimited
all the same features as talk and messaging plans, only adding data, web browsing, e-mail, navigation, tv and music

Shared plans are the talk 700, Everything messaging 1500 and 3000 and the Everything data 1500 and 3000.

Sprint also just stopped charging for direct connect as of November 1st so if you're still paying for it, call and someone can change it for you.

Talk about some a strange possibility: Could the nation's fourth largest cellular carrier, T-Mobile, gobble up the third largest, Sprint Nextel? Analysts are saying that in order to maintain competitiveness and help avoid a price war in the cellular space (though that's already happening, to be honest), T-Mobile's parent company, Deutsche Telekom, could make a play for beleaguered Sprint.

The scenario is particularly possible because of DT's foreign ownership; a weak dollar means Sprint can be had for far less now that it would in better economic conditions, and Sprint's stock is down nearly 50 percent since the beginning of the year.

Of course, technical challenges would be incredible if the two companies were to merge: T-Mobile is a ...

Unfortunately for analysts they base all their Verbal banter on small info-databases and market trends. Tmo hasn't gobbled up any major Cellular Company while most CSPs have so yes they seem likely to take one in, however there are not any GSM companies up for grab at the moment so some moron thought it possible that Tmo could buy Sprint. However let me point out some interesting points.

1. It would consume nearly all of Tmos capital to buy up Sprint. Sprint is not cheap. If you want to be realistic at least look at who can afford it... Google comes to mind, especially since they vadged out early on the 700mhz auction and their stock is over $425 a share right now and they have billions flowing into their wireless ventures like its on Fir...

For someone who has been in the industry for so long, you seem a bit misinformed a few things.

First Google didn't "Vadge out" on the 700 mhz auciton. It was never their intent to win spectrum, their intent the whole time was to drive the bid up high enough to ensure Open Access.

Second T-Mobile itself may not have the Capital, but T-Mobile is owned by Deutchse Telekom and they definately have the money to do so, especially with the status of the Dollar, it would be a great time for a foreign company to buy and get it on the cheap.

Now I do agree that I don't think it will happen due to the complex nature of the networks and the different direction of the companies but if Deutchse wanted to do it, they would have the money to do so....

One thing that could be done to make the merger easier would be to offer dual band GSM/CDMA handsets such as: Sam Ace or W399, Moto Z6c, BB 8830, UTStar t66. This could allow for an easier transition to one platform.

Yes that still leaves the people with legacy Nextel equipment out but lets face it Iden has no real path for upgrade and they now have functions similar to ptt on GSM & CDMA.

Another thing that could be done to help would be to buy out all the Sprint Affiliates.

With both companies using the 1900Mhz band that should make a transition easier to complete. Both companies have similar coverage but they both have areas where they are stronger and could make an overall coverage improvement for both. Plus the combined group w...

By buyout I mean if DT were to purchase Sprint.

I know in my area we are still IPcs and were Nextel Partners before sprint bought them. We still have problems with the 2 companies being
divided. Nextel stores can not sell Sprint and "Corporate Sprint" stores can not help with Nextel bc they are not a true corp store.

Many of the problems started before the merger. The culprit of many of the network problems that were experienced can be placed squarely on boost taking off. Boost went beyond any expectations and pulled the network down. The IDEN system just couldn't handle the load and then rebanding was just around the corner as that hit. Tim knew he had to do something as the price of both of those issues was just enormous so he found an idiot to buy what was a network running into a wall. I'm not saying the network or IDEN was bad it just had some huge hurdles and costs to overcome and Nextel and Tim didn't want to deal with it. Look at all the money that has been spent moving everything around and rebanding still isn't done. It was a mess in the...

nextel got abosorded by sprint problems!!! lets face it the iden network was never the best... the phones were expensive... but nextel took care of its customers and the employees were knowledgable!! Now it takes you all day to get a rep that knows what there talking about and that can actually fix your problem... i dont get itwhen sprint took over nextel, nextel had the lowest churn in the industry. so why would you not adopt what there doing instead of intergrating all of sprints failing ways then standing back and saying mmm why is this working?

That my friend is a training, and management issue.

Some of the issues I would change with Sprint is customer service, and not by CSAT scores that effect pay. CSAT is not measured correctly, and I feel it's unfair to a lot of reps that DO try hard, to make a change.

Reports, is another issue with Sprint. The reports, for the exception of sales and very few others always seem to be behind.

Training, is a HUGE problem I would correct. For the new reps that are not as savvy, I would make sure the non-savoy are at least knowledgeable of the selling product, ALL working tools, directories, etc.

Management, have a managing system that WORKS.

I love helping customers with any issues they may have with their phone. I dont like when customers think that I know everything about their phone. I didnt make the manual. I didnt make the phone why would I know that. If i did i would give up my sales rep job and become a tech. Or maybe I would go work for samsung. We are sales reps in stores. I will call tech support for the customer however as a sales rep our main priority is to sell cell phones. Not to memorize every step possible taken to repair a phone.

I completely agree with wade!!! We are a RETAIL OUTLET STORE (translation) WE SELL STUFF!!!!!!! And i do agree we are and should be knowledgable of what our product can and can not do. For example selling someone a Rumor 2 on a simply everything plan and saying they get GPS navigation and Sprint TV on the Rumor 2 is just a lie and stupid. We as "sales reps" need to make sure we are giving the customer the type of phone they are looking for and you must know your product or they are going to be pissed as all get out. But we can't know everything about every single phone and at the same time i don't have to spend the next 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support trying to figure our why YOUR phone is broken, and chances are YOU are the one ...

Sprint has the worst customer service of any company I have ever encountered. If you have no value on your time, or ever expect to get a problem resolved they are the company for you. If you have an ounce of intelligence, eliminate them as a carrier. There are plenty of choices out there.

nextel is still a great service for people that only want to talk or d.c other people, it wasnt made for texting or data or roaming, if you want that stuff switch to a sprint phone that was there main focas on , remember back when nextel was bought, there wasnt alot of texting or data tech out there, i think sprint did a amazing job already with nextel makeing texting and data availbe on the nextel phones, and still at the same time, impoved sprint phones to the lastest a greastest tech avaiable
