Nextel Name?
(And I have a Sprint Phone)
How very cute, and so helpful.
Don't ever forget that before Sprint got hold of it, Nextel was at the top of all wireless industry metrics (ARPU, ARPE, customer satisfaction, lowest churn, etc) , while Sprint was at or near the bottom on all counts.
Sprint absolutely sucked before the aquisition of Nextel, they completely screwed up Nextel, and there is no hope of any improvement as long as anyone at all from the former Sprint is in any management position. A totally incompetent band of bozos, Sprint.
Why on earth the Nextel people sold to Sprint instead of Verizon is one of the decade's biggest mysteries and biggest business tragedies.
Out of respect for the formerly great compa...

Gary Forsee, I hope you're happy....
I agree with you and I am always happy to make jokes about my provider when called to do so. I guess Verizon didn't see it in the cards to buy a CDMA carrier and all of the accounts associated with it which would make it far bigger than AT&T....but then Ivan Seidenberg usually never asks for my opinion.
As for Gary? Bell head mentality..
I have a personal Verizon phone (for the past 12 years) and recently got a Spri...

I f*cking hate corporate America.
I recently received an email from a person at Sprint-Nextel, someone associated with the executive team that is attempting to stop the loss of legacy Nextel subscribers. When I replied back to that person thanking them for their prompt reply, I also commented that their email signature said "Sprint", not the expected "Sprint-Nextel", which doesn't do much good for their credibility with the legacy Nextel subs.
Although that person replied back to me, they did not respond to my point about their Sprint signature. I guess either they still don't get it, or they don't really mean it when they say that Nextel is important to them. Just a small point, but i...

Having the emails as @sprint.com was not a blunder but something they planned from the start. It's not an easy process to convert tens/hundreds of thousands of email addresses. Since they knew it was going to be "Sprint" that's what everything was changed to.
As for the loss of legacy Nextel subscribers. There are two main causes of it-
1. Tim Donahue and crew, the pre-merger Nextel executive team, failed to invest enough in the iDEN network in the last few years before the merger. Six months in, Sprint saw t...

"...'Sprint' is the company. That the official company name is 'Sprint-Nextel' is a temporary thing...."
According to SEC documents: The name of the corporation is SPRINT NEXTEL CORPORATION (Exact name of Registrant as specified in its charter). The preceding sentence was copied and pasted from the actual SEC 8K filing; it does not get any more official than that. Combined with Gary Forsee's statement that it was "...a merger of equals." (Forsee's very words), and you can see why the entire world believes that it is called, and actually is, Sprint-Nextel Corporation. Perhaps you know more than us because you are an insider and you have information supportin...
