I was trying to get alway from sprint thats why i got Nextel. And now i heard that all Nextel customers will have to get new phones. I just dont like sprint, they were always over charging me or trying to charge me for things i never used and they have bad customer service. They might have a selection of phones but none of them are really for me i prefer a Nextel phone over any of theirs. Thats just how i feel.

Well, you can rest easy. You won't have to get rid of your phone for quite some time. This merger isn't going to happen over night. It's going to take some time to integrate staff, management, and technology. Just out of curios...

Not to mention they still need to get FCC approval and go through all the headaches of that process...

my plan was free and clear 500. on some of my bills i was charged for roaming, going over my minutes when by 360 (when i never go over my minutes, only talk night and weekends)which lead to them cutting off the service.I kept calling almost every month about the same things it got to me so i canceled my contract.

that maybe the case but remember this, nextel will continue their iden network for around 2-3 years probably till 2008. they will make phones that will be a dual phone such as a iden/cdma phone that supports both networks. then when ev-do rev a rolls out with sprint they would deploy dual phones cdma/iden with qchat. if you dont know what qchat please ask.

you will like it when the two companies combine. new products and services will be combined and brought to the market place. i belive nextel can turn their 800mhz spectrum into cdma which would help the coverage even more.. remember nextel has a lot of towers now, sprint can put equipment onto the nextel towers to make the phones work in those areas that arent the best. so the coverag...

Totally untrue...don't believe it.
Instead read the previous articles that were posted on this forum and the press release on NEXTEL.com.

What may be changing...although a long way off is that NEXTEL PTT will become VoIP based instead of iDEN, but it's at least 3 to 5 years away. Don't worry about it.

hahahha thats funny.

sprint/nextel will never get rid of direct connect. for 3-4 years they will keep the iden system and direct connect. while nextel, motorola, and qcom are developing qchat they will roll out those phones probably in the 07-08 time frame. qchat in lab tests and trials are very very close to the speeds of direct connect. i belive nextel will continue to do their direct conect to people who are centric users. meaning like police, fbi, gov.. etc.. there probably will be one day that direct connect would be no more, but not in the next 3 years.

when the qchat is avalaible they will start to bring the iden customers and subs to the sprint's cdma network by using qchat.

some of that rumor is true, but not exactly all o...
