Anyone willing to speculate on what the ic902 will cost?

My current phone is crapping out on me, and an offer I saw to get a good rate plan with the ic502 expires right before the ic902 is supposed to be released. I'm trying to decide if it will be worth it (cheaper) to take the ic502 offer and buy the ic902 later, or wait for the ic902 and miss the good rate plan. There are other factors involved in my decision like Bluetooth, etc., but that's the main part of it. A good educated guess would help. Thanks.

umm .. 100-150 with contract renewal.. you know the pricing on all of the hybrid handsets its designed to get the iden customers to switch over and to dissuade any new customers from purchasing a purely iden handset...

Reported by Sprint to cost 299 after rebates at launch on 06/18...

Not sure it's going to be worth it though with the other powersource phones being so much less expensive...

My advice, dont go with the power source phones. I am with the nextel returns dept and about 95% of all returns are on defective hybrid units.

Is this due to the phones actually being defective, or user error, though?

We don't seem to have as high a sales/return ratio on the PS phones as we do on regular iDEN devices.

let's discuss.

What are the top three reported defects?

Not holding a charge, incompatible sim error, dropped calls (9 out of 10 dropped), defective speakers, so on.

Again, that percentage seems kind of off since we have more iDEN defect returns than we do PS, and we sell them about equally at this point.

Not surprising, because it does seem that Motorola's heart has not been in iDEN for awhile now; they must have known about the merger for awhile before it took place.

I have nothing but praise for my Nextel iDEN phones and have never had to return any of them, and a recent trial of the ic502 hybrid went well with no problems. But I'll still take a Nextel MIL-810f rated phone over anything anyone else offers today. Rugged, good features (I only want it to be a phone...), true PTT, highly configurable menues, GPS you can actually use, Direct Send, Direct Talk, etc.

I won't move to the CDMA-iDEN hybrid until Sprint makes the hybrid look and behave EXACTLY as do the current Nextel phones (menues, screens, features, etc.)

If Nextel had ever been able to put analog roaming on their phones, there never would be a "Sprint together with Nextel", because coverage was the Achilles heel of Nextel.

I wonder how many customer surveys stating this were filled out over the years?

Anyway, the FIRST Nextel phone I predict we will see with increased roaming capabilities (ie 800 CDMA) will be a QChat phone sometime next year.

Analog is on the way out for ALL carriers. Most of Verizon's new phones are all digital.

I look for quad band (cellular and PCS GSM + CDMA) phones in the not too distant future for all carriers. Such phones would roam on all national carriers + overseas.

I called sprint today - they offered two ic902s for $220 - with $80 mail-in rebate, without rebate: $300; [I an a renewal customer, not new]. I assume one phone is $150. Hope this helps. Good luck.
