Hybrid Phone/Deposit
Ok, I went to Sprint today to get a new phone. I have had Nextel for 4 years and I am fed up with the horrible data and text messaging. They told me that I would have to pay $150 deposit and I thought that was ridiculous since I have 3 phones on my NXTL account and they are the SAME company now. I don't care if you use different billing for now!
So my question is... I am going to wait and get the Hybrid phone when it comes out. Does anyone know who will be offering it? Sprint and Nextel or just Sprint? If Nextel offers the phone then I can just upgrade and not have to pay a deposit.... but I guesse if Sprint only sells the phone then I will have to pay a deposit.

You must have a credit problem, that required a deposit. I switched from Nextel to Sprint earlier this year and had no problems.

I switched over from nextel to sprint a few months ago and when the rep first ran my credit it came back with a $150 deposit. I had been with nextel for 2 years and paid a deposit with them when i first signed up. I told this to the rep and he ended up calling into his support team and they got the deposit dropped for me. Id suggest calling in to customer care and seeing what they can do

you shouldn't have to pay a deposit... make sure that the info you gave the rep was EXACT to what's on your nextel acct so that the billing system will link the two together, and not try to charge you a deposit.

Both Sprint and Nextel will/should be offering this phone on each of their channels.

I would not get this hybrid device though and wait until next year when more are in the distribution channel and especially wait for the IC902.

I work for the Credit Dept and Sprint Nextel, and based on what you said if you are porting from nextel to sprint or sprint to nextel, you will not have to pay a deposit as long as you have been a customer for 1yr.
