Our inventory manager is always saying that we cant buy Nextel sim cards...and the agent down the road from us I'm assuming cant sell them either, because they're always sending customers to us saying they can buy sim cards here.
We had a former employee that would buy nextel sims from an ebay seller that he trusted, and he'd sell them for 50 bucks under the table seeing as they're so hard to come by. All the cards he bought were valid too...and he said he bought them for $1 apiece in bulk.
Why the hell dont they sell sim cards?
...
Good question... SIM cards are pretty handy to have if you want to use your phone for more than just something to keep papers from blowing away.

my store sales simcards 35 bucks

Nextel did sell sim cards in the corporate stores for a little while. It was a starter kit for like $30. It was for people that wanted to switch from Boost to Nextel and wanted to keep the same phone. They stopped selling these because people were figuring out ways to get unlimited minutes for free. Plus its easier for someone to activate a stolen phone.

Its all about fraud. If a phone is stolen or a bill goes unpaid and cancelled, they negative file that phone and sim card. Getting a new sim card is how you would get around it.
Now if you have a defective sim card, you can get it swapped, as long as everything is legit.
...
actually, authorized service centers can sell them, but they have to have an actual phone number to put on the sim card
...
These would have to be third party service centers. Corporate owned locations CANNOT sell them. They have to either receive a defective sim card back, or signal has to flag the old sim lost, and the store has to get confirmation that it was flagged, then it can be replaced. We cannot hand over a sim card under any other circumstances.
There are some stores, however, that have starter kits available for purchase. However, they are only used for nextel or boost new activations.
So if you can find a Commenco, mobilfone, etc that will sell you one, consider yourself lucky.

We carry Nextel at my multi-carrier store here in Florida. We have plenty of extra sims for both Boost and Nextel. I was not made aware of any special circumstaance that must be met in order to sell them. We also have the Starter Kits for $50 for activations with a new phone number. I simply call up Nextel CS and do a sim swap and IMEI swap. no problems yet.

50 bucks?!? Aye Carumba! 😲 The yellow card in the white envelope?
...
Well, its $50 for the Boost starter kit that would go along with a Boost phone purchase. If you just need a replacement sim for your Nextel
that will cost you $35. Anytime, everytime.
Cheers!
