i710 vs. i730

Hi everyone. There is absolutely no recent activity in the i710/i730 phones forum, so I will just post this in here instead. I just recently upgraded from my i530 to an i730. The i530 was great, and I never had any problems with it, but I just wanted a color screen and a change. Now with this i730, my signal strength is far less and I am cutting out and dropping calls. My i530 never did this. Now supposedly the i710 is supposed to be a replacement for the i730. Is this correct? If so, has anyone used both and can compare their performances? Is the i710 any better, or does it suck just as bad as the i730? I know it's not my location, because I always had full four bars with my i530. It's the same towers! Someone please reply if yo...

Sorry to say buddy but the i730 was a bad choice. As a matter of fact it is being discontinued for the longest already. the 760 replaced the 730. If you recently got it (less then 30 days) i would go back and exchange it for a 760! I havent seen an i730 for at least 2-3 months in my store or a store nearby my location.
But if your stuck with that phone take it to a service and repair center and have them update the software and add a clip to help with the reception. GOOD LUCK

Yes, I know the phone model was discontinued. The i730 I bought was actually used, as I got it off eBay. The seller's return policy was only a week, so now I'm stuck. The reason I bought it is because I really like the phone itself. It is very easy to use and looks really nice too. Too bad the radio isn't any better! Craziecs, do you know anything about the i710?

The 710 is exactly the same as the 730, just a cheaper made housing & no external caller ID. It came out for the people that thought the 730 was too expensive. I would recommend a 760 or 560.

The i710 is actually a better model as far as it having better reception. It hasnt had as many problems as the i730, but like ARRGGH said i would go with him and recommend the i760 and or i560 both which are pretty good phones. but if you want to save a lil money the i710 is way better then the i730, of course you will lose the caller id display in the front.

You have probably got the worst phone Nextel ever put out. It was plagued with receiver issues that Motorola was never really able to correct. Dropped calls was the major problem with the phone. The 710 was a cheaper model of the 730 with no external display. If I were you I would put your sim card back into your 530, which is an excellent no frills phone and wait until the dual mode phones come out in October. As for your 730, the nearest garbage can would do nicely. Or you can always try to dump it on some poor fool on ebay.

From what I heard there was a bad batch of 730's that came out. They had bad software in them that was making them drop calls. For my business phone I have a 730 and have never had a problem with it. You can tell which 730's are bad and which aren't. The bad ones have really tiny text on them and the newer ones have bigger text.

It wasn't a software problem, but a hardware one. There was a fix, which gave a slight improvement. Everything I have read about the 730 would cause me to not recomend getting under any circumstances.

When I am in or near town, this 730 works just fine. The thing is, I live about 6 miles from town, so service isn't always the greatest out here in the boonies where Nextel won't put up a tower. The problem with the 730 is that it loses service more than the 530. Once the 730 gets service, it works fine, even if there are no signal bars. The problem is just getting service. It is tougher with the 730 than with the 530. (Hopefully that makes sense) Anyways, it's a shame that there are reception problems with the 730, because I LOVE the phone itself. I think it looks really nice and it has all the features that I need, and from previously having a 530, the color screen is a welcome change as well. It's just too bad the radio isn't any...

i710 is a downgrade from the i730 the i760 is an upgrade from the i730 which had reported problems with signal strength and power cut off problems.
