Early termination fee waived???

Will be moving out of state to an area that has neither sprint or nextel service. We called Nextel to have service canceled, due to this. There reply was "It's our choice to move..." despite the fact that service is not offered there... Is this right? I thought carriers took into consideration if the area you live does not have service.

I think it would be decent of them to waive the fee... why dont you call and speak to upper management and explain your situation... I understand that rules are rules but there are few exceptions where I believe they should have some decency... Im not sure if other carriers have that courtesy... would be nice though...

some do. in my old call center time at at&t our supervisor would let us waive or prorate the hell of of an ETF if the place where someone was moving to had no service 30 miles N,S,E,or W. and they provide proof we could call and get confirmation they are indeed living there permanently.

Here's an example that might not be related to the topic but is in some ways a similar scenario... If you join a gym, for example Ballys and for some reason you want to get out of your contract... you cant... but if you have a medical condition that impedes you from attending... then you ARE able to get out of it... in other words, you are not able to use their service because of circumstances beyond your control and therefore they are willing to bend the rules...

I know Sprint does it. I don't see why Nextel wouldn't.

the partner areas are fiesty. they are trying to hijack anyone they can before they get jacked. so if he's a partners customer he then may have a problem. the same with sprint affiliates.

I think it will get waived if you go higher up the chain of command. For military, it gets waived, although they have no choice.....who's to say your employer didn't tell you take this job in (insert destination here) or resign??
