Ok so I called a Nextel customer and it sounded different, it said "PLease hold while the sprint subscriber you are trying to reach is located." Now this number is in Jersey but here in NC it has not switched yet. Any where else?

Orlando, Florida. Just tried calling my wife and it says the 'please wait while we locate the sprint customer'... Even prior to the merge Nextel had that annoying trying to connect to Nextel subscriber and then the 'please hold while we transfer you to their voice mail dealie'.
Why can't it just ring like other carriers phone and go right to voicemail... I don't car what you're trying to do and sending me to! Although it did this for the whole time I sold Nextel from 97-03...

You know why it says that?

It is because that person can be on direct connect or the web so it says that after waiting a few seconds then it goes right to the voicemail. If you know the voicemail database number then you can call it and if you know the telephone number enter it then enter your voicemail without even calling the cellphone/blackberry unit.

In that case its purposeless... Why not try connecting the call, if the user is on DC (or out of area in this case) ring a few times then go right to voicemail?

It does try to connect the call, but if you are on the web (sending data) and on dc (sending data), you can’t break through and that is why it says that message. “Trying to connect….” It doesn’t ring because if it would ring it would interrupt the data being passed between the tower and the phone and you can’t do that especially with an always-on network especially when the phone is transmitting back and forth. That is how it works.

Well, with Cingular, you could call a customer and if they were d/l ringtones or porn to their phone the call would ring and go to voicemail... Indeed, your explanation makes perfect sense and answers the question completely it just seems too much for already knowing the user is unavail or out of service area...

None as of right now, but I am not too focused on the phone situation now, because we have to get ready for day 1. Loll.

What is your opinion? can you state some pros and cons? (that you can identify with)

Same as the i850 w/o the camera... Only had it for a couple days and the thing you notice right off the bat is its feel. It just feels different than any other style of phone they've released... I mean, my history has been i1000 to i60c to i730 to now this... Asides from the weird navy blue matte finish, it is ultra-professional looking... God, if only they styled the phone like this when I was selling their product...

Well, that is how nextel built that system, which I think, is a pretty good one because if you’re busy, and someone calls, and gets that message it just means that they are busy. Like I mentioned before if they know the voicemail database number in that area they can call it and leave a voicemail and it wouldn’t even go to the handset. (Ringing)

Oh well.
