question for anyone with info on the new merge

hey ive been lookin everywhere on the internet and basically still have the same question. i just moved where sprint service is amazing, and nextel service is sub par. hearing of the new finalization of the merge made me happy, asuming that they sprint and nextel will be sharing towers maybe, and my service would be that of my friends who use sprint. My impression now is that thats not the case, and any improvement will take alot of time anyway. I understant the improvement of the 2way will take a while because of the difference in technology of CDMA and iden (believe those r the two) but what about just the regular phone service? any info on when i can expect service to get that of what sprint, or anything useful in respect to improved serv...

The two companies will officially begin operating as one on SEPTEMBER 1st 2005.
From what we have been told in training with Nextel is that the service will continue to work the EXACT same (no matter which carrier you have) for probably atleast another year to come. A lot of our questions were answered by the company stating "Yes, In SEVERAL years".

You should check out online NEXTEL.com and view the coverage map in your area. If there is no "estimated" future coverage in your area (where your having the difficulty) I suggest you think about switching to Sprint service after the merger. As of what we have been told as well; customers who want to switch between the 2 carriers will be able to do so without paying a penalty or cancelation. ...

They will keep continuing to operate the networks separately till at least 2007 time frame where they will migrate some of the network, towers, spectrum, and subscribers to the network, but they will allow customers to stay with iden till at least 2010 time frame.

In addition, they will keep continuing to build out cell towers at a rapid rate of about 2k-3k per year nationwide, which does or may not include co-locations. Of course, this will only help the combined company with their coverage and capacity in many areas. I believe you will see an improvement as co-locations start to happen and as mentioned above.

The push to talk service will obviously stay the same, however, in about 6-9 months they will have the gateway that will be ...
