I left nextel last year, and I joined back yesterday. I got the i860 and wanted to know what do you guys think of it? Also Im about to add another line, should I wait for the i930 to come out before I do that?

I like the i860, but I like the 275, 605, and blackberry 7520 better. (that is just me though)

I have been hearing some interesting things about the i930, but I can’t discuss it, due to a confidentiality agreement. sorry. I would just wait it out to see when more products/phones come out to the marketplace that you can decide what to do next. this isn’t chess to try to think of a few moves ahead, because with Nextel anything can happen. so just, be patient and wait for products to come.

if you were to add another line, I would do the phones that I have mentioned above. I believe those are the best phones.

by the way, I am glad that you are back! welcome back to Nextel, we missed you. 🙂

lol why thank you, I cop came in today with the i850. What do you think about that one? Last time I was with Nextel I upgraded phones like every 3 months. Im not in the mood of doing that now as I have an alltel account and possibly going to have a cingular account pretty soon.

P.S CIngular is only getting activated to have a phone with BT with all profiles.

yea, i dont like the i850 at all. i think it is an ugly phone and the i860, in my view, is better. i would stick with the phones that i have mentioned. i have heard there are some problems with the software and some other things in that i850. i wouldnt get it. 🙂 hope that helps.

My wife just got her i850 and she has no complaints (yet). The only complaint I sort of have is it has somewhat of a cheap aestetic to it. I guess this might be the new direction Motorola is going with because the i760 that is coming out looks like the identical phone w/o the camera...

Hey DCA,

According to my source who I talked to a few days ago, she told me that there are problems that consumers were facing when they purchased the i850. I don’t exactly remember the details to those problems but it had something to do with the software. I hope this information helps you and the other person (ccanady) who are inquiring about the i850.

So far (two weeks), no problems, she's not used to the shorter battey life but I told her that was to be expected when switching phone/carrier...

Here is all the information that you could ever want on the i930.

No need to worry about someone else's "confidentiality agreement" as it's in the public domain and no longer a secret.

Enjoy....

I don't know. I don't see that phone becoming available. It seems like it would be going against Nextel's new phone design motif. I though the i836 was a wierd departure from i830 to i860...

Hey. Did you check out the site that he gave? It is filled with tons of information that could possibly help you, but it didn’t state the problems that they are/were having with the phone for the past few years or so, which has obviously delayed the phone for quite some time. Therefore, to tell what those problems are or a future release of a phone or this phone in particular is prohibited because of that agreement.

I'll tell you what that delay was which was putting the 900MHz iDEN in it. That was a last minute add-on in order for NEXTEL to be able to use it here while the re-banding is being done.

That came right from a contact the Moto. plant. where iDEN phones are designed 😉

you don’t have to tell me what the problems were, my sources already told me, but I don’t say things on here or anywhere that isn’t written down anywhere because that’s a no no and also violates the confidentiality.

Anyway.

Take a hike jack....you brought no information to this thread and no one is interested in your so called "confidentiality agreement" if it brings nothing worthwhile to the conversation.

As muchdrama said...your rude, now just go away! 😈

Well remember that NEXTEL isn't the only carrier that utilizes iDEN and Motorola, who manufactures the phone, produces them for all the carriers that use iDEN.
NEXTEL currently doesn't have a dual-mode phone, only dual band 800/900 iDEN, and for those who need GSM roaming would have to utilize a totally different phone that wouldn't work in the states.

Now if you look at it logically, don't put it past NEXTEL to request Motorola to create an iDEN/CDMA version that would take advantage of the Sprint C...

Indeed. Now that its Sprint merging with Nextel (instead of Nextel needing a single handset solution for global roamers), the idea of dual GSM/iDEN is kind of, well, not necessary anymore? I guess you're right, they'll never get a handset that can work all over the world...

Very true DCA. Nevertheless, they will have a dual mode cdma/iden phone, which will be cool, however, Mark said otherwise, which isn’t true because Nextel and Motorola execs have said that they would have that type of phone in the marketplace. There would be no point of having a dual mode iden/gsm phone especially with the merger; however, you never know they could always bring it to the marketplace. Will they? Probably not but we don’t know. I don’t think there is a real demand for a phone that works worldwide because I just don’t see it many places where I go and people who I talk to. Do you think there is a demand for a phone that works all over the world? I travel all over the world, and I don’t mind if I don’t have a cell phone or a cel...

Well, if you look at the info on the FCC's, website, the i930 will be GSM/iDen. The point of that being so a nextel customer can use that phone overseas, because obviously iden is only in america. As I'm sure you know, nextel18, nextel periodically releases dual GSM/iDen phones for their customers who travel overseas. Why would you not think there is a point to having this ability??? I'm starting to agree with some of the other people here about you.

To the original poster of this thread. I know the wait time will seem alot longer, but wait for the i960. Since they put GSM in the i930, they left bluetooth out of it. The i960 will be an upgrade to the i930, but it will have bluetooth instead of gsm in addition to other features. Or ...

Gee amazing answer....why can't you respond to any of the direct questions I made? Are your "sources" preventing you from doing so? I don't even work for nextel, as you supposedly do, and I have supplied more information here than you ever have. I don't care about your confidentiality agreements. This is the internet. Do you think they would know it was you posting the info? Either provide what you know (which is nothing anyway) or shut up.

I can answer any question I want to but things such as the merger (exactly what they are doing, unless it is noted online) is prohibited as well as giving phones that might come out etc... I cannot do that sorry. I do not care if what you say to be frank, and you can say what you want about me or whatever, because it does not bother me. Anyway, I will not give out any information because this is the internet and yes, it is a bad place to put it especially if the regulatory monitor this site.

I talk about this company more than you do and know a lot more information then you do, however, some is prohibited by my agreement I signed. If you do not believe me or care, it is not my loss.

As of right now, you are on my ignore list. 🙂...

Fair enough. However, this question:

Has nothing to do with either. This was a direct question which required no response from you besides your own PERSONAL OPINION. So to avoid something so simple just serves to further proves the type...
