Continued use for old Nextel phones (Direct Talk)

I stumbled across this link on a HowardForums forum, seemed like good info for anyone interested in getting more life out of their Nextel phones after iDEN is killed next month.

The initial posing on page one of this thread gives some detailed ease-of-use info relative to Direct Talk.

If you obtain the MSL from Sprint, you can reprogram the PTN by using the ##RTN# menu and keying in a different number. It is a bit more of a work around, but well worth the effort.

I'm already doing this with my old phones. I use it on cruises, camping, and other places where cellular service is not available. How I miss the one phone does all solution. No modern smartphones duplicate what good old Nextel did 10 years ago.
