Data problems.

I use my Nextel to connect my computer to the internet. Expensive option I know. Recently it stopped loading web pages.

It says connected, my IM program will connect and I can chat on it. Web pages start to load then 'Waiting for www.insertanysite.com' and nothing. Eventually it times out.

Called support. We checked settings on my computer (well I read to them what I had allready checked) They sent me to 2nd tier. 2 tier had me set up a manual connection. Also did a master reset.

Still didn't work.

Any tips or suggestions out there?

Nextel phone. i730.

Had no problems until a week or so ago.

Can access everything through the phone. Only has problems when it's connected to the PC with a data cable.

At this point I'm hosed because I don't have a home phone to call tech support on. So I can only call from teh phone to be near the PC to do anything.

Sounds like you got some spyware. It's not a connection problem.

Nope. Not spyware.

Just reformatted my drive.

Since then I only brows a choice few sites that I know and trust.

Connection is so slow I don't download anything.

Also was working one day while browsing the next day nothing.

thats interesting... lol.. when i used my other phones as modems, it worked fine.. you just have to install the modem software correctly and BEFORE you connect your phone to your laptop. (thats the key)

Did you reformat your drive to get rid of spyware and then install a new firewall or new antivirus software (or turn it on for the first time)? It's possible that your firewall or anti-malware software is blocking the port(s) that you need to use.

I sell GSM phones, but the troubleshooting flow is pretty much the same. Usually, when a customer is having trouble tethering their phone, I suggest the things that you've already done. I think the next step would be to check your antivirus protection or firewall. They may be blocking you access.

Hope this helps . . .
