I recently purchased a i730 from nextel and then I saw the i860 wow!!!! what a phone great looks and a camera which is not a necessity but definitlry cool!!!I have some friends telling me that the i860 gets the best signal or reception of all the nextel phones out, is this true? Will the i860 somehow receive better signal strength than the rest? Would this phone be the best to go with as far as nextel is concerned? I appreciate any feedback. thank you!!!

"i860 gets the best signal or reception of all the nextel phones out, is this true?"

yes, i belive its true. i had the i730 before and i have the i860 and compared it to each other the i860 gave me better signal strength.

when i tried the i710 which i belive has the next best the i860 was still better.

" Will the i860 somehow receive better signal strength than the rest?"

it does. motorola did a great job with this one. updated codeplugs and RF signal drivers to perform well.

"Would this phone be the best to go with as far as nextel is concerned?"

100 percent yes.

It's interesting that you say that as I was in a conference today where almost everyone had NEXTEL. From prior experience I know that NEXTEL usually has weak to non-existent coverage inside this particular convention center. What I saw was that for everyone, except those who had blackberry's, their NEXTEL's didn't work. Those folks with blackberry's were receiving calls, receiving e-mails, and DC's. Others, like myself, who had a mix of i860's, i730's and others had nothing but paperweight's hanging on our belts for the morning and had to step outside to make calls.

Just was an interesting un-scientific observation...

Yep I'm sold...I just don't wanna pay the extra cash for the BB Data plan.

I'll stick it out with the i860 for the time being and look for free 802.11 to check my work n personal e-mail on my pocket pc. 🙂

i think it is. it is highly useful becuase of what you said, great signal, and what i think, excellent functions. i like the keyboard and the pda is very very good. why dont you cut one of your phones or both of your phones and get the blackberry? i think its a great idea. just get the data and email for the blackberry and get the phone for dc and phone. or vice versa or any option that you wish.

you would enjoy the bb7520. its great. the RF guys who i talk to on a daily basis, one of them just got it yesterday and he told me that it is very good. i would get it if i were you, especially since you probably use the email function a lot.

or you can wait till the 930 which i heard bad things about or a new blackberry that might come ou...

Oh I'm not doubting that I wouldn't enjoy it, but I know the wife wouldn't appreciate me disconnecting her phone so I can have a new toy.
