A joke

First off sprint stinks because they have low level poor revune generating customers, not to mention too many plans that are difficult to understand. Second nextel or tmobile I don't which was the bigger joke. Nextel is a walkie talkie that requires monthly service and gets a slightly larger ptt area with worse service.

Actually, Sprint has the highest ARPU in wireless.

T-Mobile is certainly no joke. They are making good money and recently broke the 30 million customer mark.

Nextel service is relied upon by nearly 90% of businesses and government agencies. They were the only service that worked on 911 and 48 hours after Katrina.

the fact that i work in a sprint call doesn't make me biased to other cell phone providers. i currently have verizon and can't wait to get out of my agreement w/ the new technologies sprint has in store. i've sampled and tried just about every major carrier out there...i.e. att, tmobile, verizon, and nextel...the fact that sprint made 7.9 billion dollars last year is no small feat. we're not going out of business my friend

I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. ARE YOU or do you just come in spouting what the derizon scum tell you to fool people because they are greedy. Derizon is for LOSERS! just like you!!

Not true. VZW service was working around that same time following Katrina.

VZW has launched a push to talk service that will trump Nextel in reliability.

jrfdsf2 is right.

The Nextel iDEN PTT system is inherently more reliable than any other cellular-emulation-based PTT system. The PTT side is GENUINE radio dispatch, running on a separate system than Nextel's regular cellular side, and it does not need to travel over the POTS lines.

Go back to the first few days after the 9-11 attacks, when Nextel PTT was the ONLY wireless service of any size that never shut down. Recall then-mayor Rudy Guiliani's ONLY communications device was his Nextel PTT phone, and that the very same phone is now on display at the Smithsonian Museum BECAUSE it was hugely instrumental in Guiliani managing the crisis in the super-critical hours and days right after the attacks, when rescue operations were at their m...

Thanks.

And now Verizon (a.k.a. "Derizon", from the root word "derision") begins their attack ads against Nextel PTT. Derizon hasn't the guts to do it face-on, they just use innuendo and childish hints to get their message across; using the tried and true "FUD" way to win business (fear, uncertainty, doubt). It's just like Derizon to pick on the smallest kid in the school yard to ensure that it can win the fight.

Derizon has a decent network, and I recognize that is all a lot of people want, but Derizon is one sleazy outfit, and I for one choose to not support the business-world equivalent of a sleazy political campaign.

One day Derizon's sleazy business tactics will come into the spotlight, and the public will actually see the man ...

Yeah, I had just read the newspaper that evening and saw Derizon's low-road ad, and I vented. My apologies to all who were offended; I could have stated my points with less venom.

It took me back to the days when VZW spent a lot of effort with superfluous lawsuits trying to block Nextel's advances at every opportunity. Some will say that's just business, but I maintain that there's clean, fair, adult-behavior, competitive business and then there's underhanded business. I won't support the ones who can't compete cleanly (VZW in this case), and I will call them on it every time I see it (VZW again).

Sorry for the rant in my previous post.

YES True, And as usual you Verizon scum are liers. I know for a FACT that Verizon did NOT work during and Immediately after Katrina. Members of my family HAD verizon and had no service for at least 1 month after Katrina. They actually went in and changed to reliable NEXTEL so that they could have service once we were able to come back home. So you can put all the marketing spin you want on this, the fact of the matter is verizon is the joke and did not work after Katrina. I don't know when they started working after Katrina and I really don't care, but I won't LIE and won't put any spin on this. NEXTEL Direct connect worked before during and after the storm, it is how all of my neighbors kept up with one another and told each other to come b...

Well SEM if you want to put your money where you mouth is, I will be more then happy to provide you and anyone else with my cell phone records along proving that you are a LIER. I as a first responder did not have cell service nor did any cell company provide service.

What DID work was NEXTEL direct Connect that and text messaging from most providers. So if you want to state facts then state them and provide proof. I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is, I still have the invoices showing that there was no cell service provided. Come on SEM your such a LIER you know that you are a lier and if you want to take it to the next level I will be more then willing to take it to that level. I regret to inform you that I did not have a camera crew following my movements at that time, so proof would be a little hard to come by. I'm not here to argue, just stating my personal experience. If you insist I am wrong, I cannot change your mind. My service was out for 2-3 hours, but soon after, Verizon had set up a portable tower nearby and my service was working again. Granted, the reception was not the best, but did allow me to make calls to loved ones to inform them that I was alive and well. I was with a person that did have direct connect, and yes, they were able to use the service the entire time. I'm not sure what you are attempting to argue about here, but this will be my last post in this section. If you feel the need to contac...

Well what do you know the Verizon Marks when you put their feet to the fire they back down and finally admit that the bull that they are peddling is just that Bull. Its Lie's upon Lie's upon Lie's. For those you that believe that Verizon is the best and choose to migrate to that particular company go ahead, just go to that company's forum and post there. We that believe in Nextel and KNOW the truth and what works and will continue to work, will stay with Nextel. SEM finally admitted that he lied, I put up my money and he just backed down. However, the same can't be said for AT&T and Verizon. I still have friends that had to stay in New Orleans because they are essential personell and guess what they have either AT&T (Because that is whom they work for) or Verizon (Stupidly) guess who they had to call to communicate with their family members. Sounds like someone really does not have a Clue. Nextel was the ONLY carrier that worked after Katrina. It is because of this that I will keep my Nextel with Direct Connect as long as possible. The only joke in this industry is Verizon and what's the name of that other company, they don't know either. When the network is up and running, over 3000 miles. Off-network, about 6 miles. The six mile range, while very short, would allow an underground construction crew to communicate with one another, or rescue workers who are pulling someone out of an abandoned well, or builders who are constructing a warehouse up in the mountains where there are no cell towers.

For individuals, this feature allows you to stay connected inside an indoor shopping mall with your family and friends, that has little or no indoor cellular reception. Also great for staying in touch while riding bikes or hiking ...

at&t now offers the feature.

I worked for Sprint for 4 years as a rep and Store Manager. I finally saw the light, it was a train called Nextel. IDEN is without a doubt garbage in legacy Sprint's eyes. I was in Washington DC when they showed us the future of IDEN. It's life expectancy did not exceed past 2010. So IDEN will go away and Sprint will migrate to QChat. If IDEN is so great why are they trying to sell it? I work for another CDMA provider that has great customer service something Sprint can never seem to accomplish. That is why they accept 70% for a satifactory customer service scores (CSAT) and run a churn rate higher then any carrier.
