I tried the GPS option on my phone and all it says is "scanning for satalite" i waited and nothing happened. Do i have to pay for the service in order for the gps to work??

Yes, you have to pay for the service. I also know there was some recall on the GPS in some phones, that it was not working properly. But Motorola sent out a data cable and upgrade cd to upgrade the firmware to get it working properly. I think the phones that were affected were the i7xx phones.
