From the info I have the i880 is the last iden only phone. All future Nextel devices will be hybrid. As far as new hybrid devices we have the ic902 launching in May. It will have EVDO a megapixel camera and bluetooth.

Well if you qualify the hybrid phones has Nextel IDEN devices, which you can, there would be plenty.

Well, they LOOK like Nextel phones and they do have true iDEN PTT, but these are definitely Sprint phones in personality, screen appearance, menu options.

Really, a more accurate description is that the hybrids (so far) are effectively (although perhaps not technically) Sprint phones with iDEN PTT capability tacked on. The Sprint users see it as a Sprint phone with PTT added; Nextel users are the ones who have to adjust to the "Sprint personality" of these phones, and it is a come-down.

Yeah. I REALLY miss ringers 1-12! 🤣

Seriously, I DO miss things like external smart key functions, better short-cut options, second line service, selective call forwarding, continuous alert time-outs, being able to program the VM turbodial to other keys besides #1, not to mention a more versatile, VM system with more features.

All of these things would be moot if the PS phones had incorporated 800 CDMA roaming. I know why they didn't, but they still need to do it.

As far as any more iDEN handsets go, I would like to think the Motorola i880 is going to be the last one as junglemassive stated. With Sprint Nextel rebanding their 800 MHz frequencies, having various markets experiencing iDEN network traffic congestion and their race with deploying 1xEV-DO Rev A and soon WiMAX, any future iDEN devices will be the PowerSource handsets. I'm looking forward to the first dual band Powersource handset with at least 1xEV-DO Rev 0. I wish I understood the numbering of the current PowerSource handsets.

Well you can qualify those power source, or dual mode devices, as IDEN handsets because frankly they are.

The one that is coming up that will be EV-DO is the IC902.

Do not raise the issue about the consensus, re-banding plan, because that has nothing to do with their phone portfolio. Especially since the dual mode devices use the voice network of Sprint’s network and Nextel’s IDEN network for direct connect, so the traffic on that IDEN network will be a lot less than if there was a true IDEN device that uses both the voice and direct connect traffic.
