for the cascades, i get limited reception along the I-90 corridor... if i stray off I-90 over 5 miles, i lose reception. as for southern WA and the willamette valley, i havent tested anything there at all. all companies have a 14 day return period, some longer... so dont be afraid to try out a quality phone with all the service providers until you get the service you need in your area.

GSM in the states is VERY limited so far. Cingular and T-Mo both use 1900mhz GSM, while AT&T uses 850mhz. AT&T GSM service is by far and away worse than the other two.

CDMA systems advertise greater coverage, but i just ditched Verizon for T-Mo cuz the CDMA coverage wasnt nearly as good as advertised, and i liked the data portability available for GSM carriers.
